Today (7 June) marks what would have been Prince's 68th birthday.

The American singer, songwriter and musician passed away on 21 April 2016. Throughout his career, he faced a lot of speculation about his sexuality due to his fluid presentation and refusal to conform to traditional gender roles.

In his 1984 song 'I Would Die 4 U', he included the lyrics "I'm not a woman, I'm not a man. I am something you will never understand."
