Collaborate
A Photography Studio and Art Gallery Bringing artists together and engaging with community.
We believe in the creative power of collaboration, participation, and engagement - where artists from varied backgrounds and disciplines come together to create, and where the community is a part of that experience. We welcome collaborators to join us in our workspace (shared photography studio and office space) or to collaborate on projects, events and exhibitions.

Some of you have heard me refer to Collaborate as an "accidental gallery." I thought I was making a space that included a gallery, but it turns out it is a gallery that includes some space.
While I loved having the gallery, I am an artist first. And this gallery wants a lot more attention than I can give it. I've decided to pursue my fine artwork full time, so I'm looking for people who would like to take over the gallery. The rent is very reasonable, and space could easily be shared to cover it. We are now established and reviewed and getting more well known. The art community, the city of Oakland and the neighborhood are all happy that we're here, and all interested in helping to promote and support the gallery. (Contact me if you would like to discuss taking over the gallery, or joining a group who is interested. This is an unbelievably good opportunity to continue the gallery, or just have a well-lit place to paint, have a photography studio, etc. The rent is only $1500/mo. and includes a 900 sq. feet first floor, including a mini kitchen and a bathroom, with upstairs mezzanine and office space, as well as a full basement. The first floor has a photography studio set up.)
I want to thank everyone who was involved with the success of this brief venture, including Gallery Directors Nicole Hills and Susan Rippberger, artist Chuck Light and Steve DiCiucci for assistance with everything and photographer Diana Jean on PR. We would also like to thank art writer DeWitt Cheng and Alfonso Cosio and Monique Delauney of Art Enthusiast (formerly Oakland Art Beat) for their support and reviews. Big thanks to all of the artists, who are already too numerous to name, and of course the art buyers and visitors who sustained the gallery.
Come visit the current show "Timescapes" before it closes on January 25. See DeWitt Cheng's review in the East Bay Express here:
