Yes, it's summer and traveling is underway. Right now, my sister and her husband are traveling to Idaho to visit family so we stopped off in Idaho on our way back to California to see them. Needless to say, mom's house is FULL! So full, in fact, that David, the dogs and I have to stay in a nearby hotel.

We've been traveling for almost a week, in and out of hotels and Airbnb's while we continue to design our dream life. There are many moving parts and we're navigating it smoothly.
When we're home, the dogs do NOT sleep with us. But when we're traveling, it's a little harder to control. Hazel starts off sleeping at the foot of the bed (she's trained to do so because of my hearing impairment), but then I release her to go sleep on her own bed, which she prefers. Since I married David, I don't need Hazel to guard me at night when I take my hearing aids out like she used to. So she's off duty.
But Levi? That's another story. That little Yorkie is stuck to me like glue. He wants to sleep next to me SO BAD so he loves when we travel because he wedges himself between David and me. It has become a bad habit that we've accepted as just "travel behavior" and we let it go knowing that when we get back home, it's back to the rules.

I had 2 sisters growing up. We were raised on a ranch in a small community outside a small town. My folks worked full time and dad always had other jobs outside his full time police officer job. Mom was maxed out with her full time job as a vet tech and working her tail off at home raising 3 girls.
We had horses and I wanted to learn how to braid their mane and tail. Mom was too busy to teach me so I taught myself. Same was true when I wanted to learn to ride a bike. Mom was tied up with laundry and couldn't break away so I taught myself.
This self-driven grit I have all stemmed from something mom said to me when I was really little: she called me, "Cristy I can." After that, I saw myself as someone without limitations. It just clicked in my mind. I've never doubted, even for a second, that I could do something.
When I decided to cut my hair into a mohawk again, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to braid it. I love braids! But it's hard to braid in that direction with very little hair. We arrived at our new 226 acre property to scout out a building site. We've been to our land 3 times and had 3 different plans. But each time we go back, our plan changes due to new things we learn or notice.
We all know I'm a pretty rigid person. I like things a certain way and I almost always get my way. But approaching a new building project on a remote, raw piece of land with absolutely NO infrastructure (not even a road — we had to hike in) is not a time to be stubborn. If we come in with a strict game plan on raw, unforgiving land and unpredictable, violent weather, this project is going to eat our lunch.
Mike Tyson said, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face." I can personally attest to that both in the ring and out.

You can lose weight doing just about anything. I've said that for several years, and it's as true today as it was the first time I said it.
But keeping it off is another story. If you're reading this, you've probably regained weight you've lost before. (Me too.)
See, the transition from weight loss to maintenance is where so many people lose their way. I've seen this a million times in my 30+ years in this industry.
People are comfortable regaining and losing weight, because they've done it for decades.
But when faced with the idea of keeping the weight off for life, SO many get in their heads and regain weight. I saw it with almost everyone who reached maintenance coaching (back when I still offered it).
They just didn't know how to be the version of themselves who could keep the weight off. Some powered through and learned, but some couldn't get through the mental discomfort long enough to shift into who they needed to be, and regained a bunch of weight.
Plus, though food flexibility is one of the perks of reaching maintenance, it was also one of the biggest stumbling blocks for people who got to goal. Most people were terrified of having more choices because they didn't trust themselves not to go crazy.
But people who keep the weight off do learn to trust themselves around food. They create food boundaries around trigger foods and stop viewing weight fluctuations as "pass or fail."
They're not perfect with their food choices, but they're consistent enough to keep the weight off.
