If anyone ever wonders what bloodwork looks like four days after running a marathon at 202.5 lbs bodyweight and drug-free. I had been supplementing with these things in the lead-up to the race:
1) 100 mcg Vitamin K2
2) 15 mg Zinc Glycinate 1 mg Copper
3) 10.5 mg Heme Iron
4) Jarrows Vitamin B-Complex
5) 1000 mg Astragalus

1) I’m actually fairly happy with the testosterone level. I was thinking it would be lower at this juncture. That 550 ng/dL level may be in play in a few weeks with lower mileage.

2) Kidney functions were fantastic. eGFR is likely 125-130 off a Cystatin-C calculation.

3) Liver enzymes were the highest they’ve been since I came off PEDs. They’ll come down in the weeks to come, but I’ll run some Tudca and NAC for a bit. Surprised they got this high even with the running.

4) Red blood cells and hemoglobin tend to dip pretty low for me when running high mileage. Beyond living at altitude or taking testosterone, that tends to be the case.

5) Lipids were the best they’ve ever been for me. I’ve dabbled with a once a week dose of Crestor at 20 mgs in the past and hit an 80 LDL, but never this low without pharmaceutical intervention.

6) TSH was a bit elevated but usually it’s 1.9 for me. That shock come down a touch too.

🕰️Let’s rewind to November 2013 when I was a 21 year old lifter. I had been training for 8 years up to that point and had been garnering attention for pulling heavy weights in my parents basement. Powerlifting was still relatively underground at the time, but everyone knew who was. So when I had the opportunity to get on a plane for the first time and head to Sacramento, I had to take it.

🟢At the time, I had no clue what low-bar was on squats. I didn’t even really know about knee wraps. Knee sleeves weren’t a thing at the time. I enjoyed lifting on the edge, walking out 600+ lb squats with nothing but a belt, loud music, and raw energy. It wasn’t complicated. I wasn’t after attention. It was just what I loved to do.

🟢This 661 lb (300 kg) squat set the tone for many years and many lifts to come. Little did I realize at the time…I honestly just came there to deadlift.

🔑But when you have a goal in mind, it’s important to give it your all. My goals don’t necessarily define me anymore, but when you come at them from a healthy standpoint, they can absolutely enhance your life.

8 years ago pulling 865 lbs (392.5 kg) on a squat bar! One of the biggest keys that helped me get to this level was consistency over time. It’s the number one marker for success, and one that I often forget. #

In powerlifting, your total is everything. That’s simply what you can lift on all 3 main lifts combined (squat, bench, deadlift). And When it comes to getting as strong as possible, the best results came through focusing on advancing that number. Consistency, discipline, focus. Chipping away one week at a time, one day at a time to reach the end result.

If you’re looking for a sustainable, individualized approach to achieving your goals, message me “strong” to see if I can help you.

**** 11 and 21 weeks out
✅Deadlifts: 3×5×408 lbs (stiff-bar)
✅Bench: Sets of 4x255 lbs Paused
✅Running: 56 miles this week
✅Lat Pulldowns with 220 lbs
🏃Marathon prep 🤝 meet prep

Over 5 years now being off PEDs and testosterone, as of November 2020. I thought the journey was over at that point, but something tells me we’re just getting started. We’re capable of more than we realize. Praise God for second chances in life!

Back in November, I clocked a 1:29:38 half-marathon at 205 lbs bodyweight on a course with 580 feet of elevation gain. I also just recently benched 315 and am working back up on Deads and squats.

The goals aren’t quite what they used to be with 770+ lb squats, 485 lb benches, and 900+ lb Deads, but strength remains at the forefront of my training. Maybe I’ll have to do a meet in 2026 and see what I can do? It’s been over five years off testosterone now, but a return to the platform would be a lot of fun…

The Lord takes you down paths you never thought you’d end up on, but I trust Him with everything. He already wrote the book on us, we just have to trust in his plan, even when we can’t make sense of it ourselves!
