We're excited to have TORCH in our Oak Ridge Branch this week!
TORCH works to help individuals experiencing homelessness find stable, affordable housing through a Housing First approach. By focusing on housing as the first step, they help connect people with the support and resources needed to move forward.
Stop by the branch anytime this week to learn more about their work in the community and ways to get involved. Representatives will also be in branch on Thursday, June 18, to answer questions and share additional information.

Enjoying the summer season tends to mean more online purchases: trips, tickets, rentals, and quick payments.
Unfortunately, scammers know that too.
A few things worth double-checking this time of year:
• Be cautious of event tickets or vacation rentals that seem unusually cheap
• Avoid sending peer-to-peer payments to strangers unless you fully trust the source
• Look closely at listing details, reviews, and website links before booking
• If someone is pressuring you to pay quickly, it's always worth pausing and investigating further
A few extra minutes of checking can save a lot of stress later. And if something doesn’t feel right, trust that instinct!

Summer spending can look like extra stops for iced coffee, last-minute evening plans, weekend trips, eating out, and all the little things in between that add up faster than we expect.
A few ways to stay on track with your savings goals this summer:
• Choose a few priorities ahead of time instead of saying yes to everything
• Set a rough spending limit before trips or events—and then do your best to stick to it
• Keep your savings in a dedicated, separate account so you’re less tempted to dip into it
• Give yourself flexibility and be on the lookout for discounts and deals—you'll be surprised how far your fun money can stretch
The goal isn’t to avoid enjoying summer. It’s making sure your spending still lines up with your budget and financial goals long-term.

Buying a home can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time.
One thing that helps? Preparing early.
Gathering things like income information, employment history, and current debts ahead of time can make the process feel much smoother when you’re ready to apply.
During National Homeownership Month, we’re reminding members that it's never too early to connect with an expert and start asking questions about the homebuying process.

Having a healthy savings account balance is a big accomplishment.
The next question is usually: “What should I do with it now?”
Maybe you want your savings to grow more steadily. Maybe you’re thinking longer-term about retirement, future plans, or just making your money work a little harder for you.
That’s where it can help to look at options beyond a basic savings account, whether that’s share certificates, money market accounts, IRAs, or sitting down with someone to build a plan that fits your goals.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting the conversation. Explore your options with CU Wealth Group advisors:

Kids are quick to absorb information simply by observing behaviors from others–including how their parents handle finances. The way we talk about money, save for things, or plan for the future often becomes the foundation for how kids approach managing money later in life.
That’s why we’ve been working on something new for younger members and their families.
Coming in June: a new youth savings account designed to help children and teens start building healthy financial habits early, with benefits created for growing families.
We’ll be sharing more details soon...including a few perks for members who get started early. Stay tuned!
