Loudoun Water runs Esri as the system of record for pipes, hydrants, and maintenance holes. It runs SAP for asset and maintenance management. Both sit in Azure. Around 80,000 homes and businesses depend on what those two systems agree on.

Keeping them in agreement used to mean custom code. Loudoun Water had it. It worked, and then it became the problem.

Changes were expensive. Few people could safely touch the code base. Incidents were hard to trace. Large datasets slowed it down. And an S/4HANA move was coming that the custom layer wouldn't survive.

So they went looking for something they wouldn't have to maintain themselves.

Spatialitics Unity Engine now handles the synchronization, with Asset Mapper on the map side. Real-time sync between Esri and SAP, configured rather than coded, and ready for S/4HANA when Loudoun Water gets there.
