Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!
In honor of chocolate chip cookies, here are some fun facts:
• Chocolate chip cookies were created on accident by Ruth Wakefield.
• The world’s biggest chocolate chip cookie weighed over 40,000 pounds.
• The first chocolate chip cookie was the size of a quarter and designed to be eaten in one delicious bite.
• Chocolate chip cookies were originally called Toll House Crunch Cookies, named after the Toll House Inn owned by Ruth and her husband.
• Thanks to a class of third graders in 1997, chocolate chip cookies have been named the official state cookies of Massachusetts.
