Extreme summer heat can take a real toll on your health, and our team wants to help you stay safe as temperatures rise.

Here are a few simple ways to protect yourself during very hot days:
• Stay inside during the hottest part of the afternoon when you can.
• Drink water consistently, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
• Choose lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing when outdoors.
• Use fans or air conditioning, or visit a cooling center if your home gets too warm.
• Keep an eye out for signs of heat exhaustion like dizziness, nausea, confusion, or headache.
• Be mindful of certain medications that can hinder your body's ability to regulate temperate or accelerate dehydration (diuretics, antihistamines, antidepressants, blood pressure, heart medications and stimulants).

These small habits can make a big difference in preventing heat-related illness. If you’re unsure how extreme heat might impact your medications or overall health, it’s always a good idea to check in with your doctor.

And if you’d like to review your current health coverage or explore options like hospital indemnity, dental plans, or other supplemental products, our team at Health Matters Insurance is always here to help. Call us anytime at 636-849-1004.

July always gives us a reminder of how powerful creativity and bold ideas can be. This month marks milestones that reshaped food, entertainment, and even our view of what’s possible.

July 5, 1937 – SPAM hit the shelves and became one of the most recognizable pantry staples in America.

July 17, 1955 – Disneyland opened its gates in Anaheim, setting a new standard for family experiences and sparking endless imagination.

July 20, 1969 – Apollo 11 reached the moon, showing the world what happens when innovation and courage come together.
