This Sunday is Father's Day, and we're flipping the gift script.
Skip another tie or coffee mug this year. Give Dad something he'll actually use: the encouragement (and accountability) to take care of his health.
Ideas that show you really care:
✔ Book his annual physical and offer to drive him there
✔ Sign up for a 5K together, or just commit to weekly walks
✔ Cook a heart-healthy meal as a family
✔ Have the conversation about screenings he's been avoiding
✔ Tell him you want him around for many more years
Dads, this one's for you too. Your family wants you healthy. Make this the year you stop putting your wellbeing last.
To all the fathers, father figures, and the people who love them: Happy Father's Day weekend!

Construction crews. Paving teams. Landscapers. Utility workers. First responders. The folks who keep our communities running often spend their workdays exposed to summer's most intense heat.
Heat illness is serious and entirely preventable. Knowing the signs can save a coworker's life.
Watch for:
✔ Heavy sweating, weakness, or dizziness (heat exhaustion)
✔ Confusion, hot dry skin, or loss of consciousness (heat stroke, a medical emergency)
✔ Muscle cramps and persistent headaches
How crews can stay protected:
✔ Hydrate constantly. Water before thirst hits.
✔ Take regular shade breaks
✔ Use the buddy system to watch for symptoms in each other
✔ Acclimate gradually when temperatures spike
✔ Schedule preventative health visits to catch underlying conditions that increase heat risk

The summer solstice is just around the corner, marking the longest day of sunlight all year! Whether you're hitting the beach, working outdoors, or just enjoying a backyard BBQ, more sunshine means more skin exposure, and that calls for some extra care.
Your skin protection game plan:
✔ Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, and reapply every two hours
✔ Cover up with a wide-brimmed hat, UV-protective sunglasses, and lightweight long sleeves when possible
✔ Seek shade between 10 AM and 4 PM when UV rays peak
✔ Don't forget often-missed spots like ears, the back of your neck, and the tops of your feet
✔ Schedule an annual skin check with a dermatologist
Skin cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when you take consistent action. Soak up the season, just do it safely!

First responders carry weight most of us will never understand. The calls that don't leave you. The shifts that bleed into sleepless nights. The cumulative impact of trauma that builds up over a career.
Research consistently shows that police officers and firefighters experience PTSD, anxiety, and depression at rates significantly higher than the general workforce. And too often, the culture of toughness keeps people from asking for help.
Here's what we want every first responder to hear: getting support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
A few starting points:
✔ Talk to someone you trust (peer support, chaplain, counselor)
✔ Use confidential resources like your department's EAP or first responder hotlines
✔ Prioritize sleep, movement, and connection with loved ones
✔ Make mental health part of your annual wellness check
To every officer and firefighter reading this: your wellbeing matters as much as your service.

Firefighters and police officers face cardiac risks at rates well above the general population, and sudden cardiac events remain a leading cause of on-duty firefighter deaths.
The job itself is a risk factor. Long shifts, irregular sleep, exposure to high-stress situations, and physical demands all take a toll on the heart over time.
That's why proactive cardiac screening matters so much:
✔ EKGs to detect electrical issues before they become emergencies
✔ Bloodwork to monitor cholesterol and inflammation markers
✔ Blood pressure tracking
✔ Personalized follow-up with a healthcare provider
NDS Wellness brings comprehensive screenings directly to fire stations and police departments, ensuring our heroes get the care they deserve without disrupting the mission.
Departments and unions, let's protect those who protect us.

Men are significantly less likely than women to schedule routine medical care. Studies show many guys haven't seen a doctor in years, often citing time, cost, or a "tough it out" mentality.
But here's what we see every day at NDS Wellness: when preventative care comes to them, men show up.
That's the power of onsite care:
✔ No taking time off work
✔ No scheduling headaches
✔ No long waits in unfamiliar offices
✔ Just convenient, comprehensive care during the workday
When employers bring physicals onsite, participation rates climb, health issues get caught earlier, and lives get changed.
HR leaders, want to support the men and women on your team? Bring the care to them.

Happy National Donut Day!
We get it. Sometimes life calls for a glazed, sprinkled, or cream-filled moment of joy. And honestly? Going through life completely deprived of the things that bring you happiness isn't wellness either.
Here's our take: wellness isn't about perfection. It's about balance.
So today, enjoy the donut. Then tomorrow, take the walk. Schedule the physical. Drink the water. Get the screening. Call your friend. The little choices add up over time, and one treat won't undo a healthy life.
Spice things up, savor the moment, and remember that real wellness leaves room for the sweet stuff too.
What's your go-to donut order? Drop it in the comments!

It's National CPR and AED Awareness Week, and we're calling on every workplace to take a hard look at emergency preparedness.
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, anytime, and survival rates climb dramatically when bystanders are ready to act. That readiness starts with workplace policies that prioritize life safety.
What forward-thinking employers are doing:
✔ Installing AEDs in accessible, well-marked locations
✔ Sponsoring CPR certification for staff through the American Heart Association or Red Cross
✔ Reviewing emergency response plans annually
✔ Building a culture where health and safety go hand in hand
Preparedness isn't optional. It's leadership.
This week, ask yourself: Is my workplace ready?

Welcome to Men's Health Month! Time to put guys' wellbeing front and center.
This June, we're shining a spotlight on the biggest health risks men face and why early action matters. Heart disease remains the #1 killer of men in the U.S. Mental health concerns often go unspoken. And cancers like prostate and testicular are far more treatable when caught early.
Here's the good news: prevention works.
✔ Schedule that annual physical you've been putting off
✔ Know your numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar)
✔ Talk openly about mental health with someone you trust
✔ Move your body daily, even just a walk
Men's health is family health. When the men in our lives prioritize their wellbeing, everyone benefits.
Let's make this the month you take that first step!

The best stroke is the one that NEVER happens!
And that's exactly what preventive care is all about.
The risk factors for stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity are often silent. You can feel completely fine and still be at elevated risk. That's why regular health screenings aren't optional.
They're essential!
The incredible advantage of onsite workplace screenings? Your team gets checked without ever leaving the building, no scheduling headaches, no time off needed. We catch the risk factors early, so strokes don't have a chance!
Your workforce deserves protection. Let NDS Wellness bring it directly to them!
