Last week, we spent a lot of time working with NoteMatch — a piano reading tool I created to make learning to read music as easy and intuitive as possible! 🎹✨

One of the things I love about NoteMatch is how quickly it helps students become independent readers. Once they understand how to use it, they can figure out piano pieces all on their own — whether in class or at home — which means they move through their books so much faster.

My role is to guide them, refine their playing, and shape the piece… but with NoteMatch, they get to do so much of the legwork themselves. It’s an incredible way to build confidence and independence. 💪🎶

In this video, I played one of my NoteMatch games — a flashcard-style activity where students have just three seconds to identify each note before the answer pops up. And I have to say… they did amazing! 🥰👏

What piano lessons look like with Evan 🫠🥰🎹

I never teach kids that young but I know why he wants to have a “lesson…” and that’s because I always give my students a candy in the end, and he (and Jordan) think they’re no exception 🤣.

I originally made these little piano key cards for one of my super young students in my Piano Clubs, and turns out they’re also perfect for Evan’s age 🐶🥰
