A lighthouse doesn't move. It doesn't chase the boats that are struggling out there in the dark β it just keeps its light on, steady, so that when someone is ready to look for it, it's exactly where they left it.
That's what we try to be. Not something that pulls you in before you're ready. Just something steady, still standing, still lit, for whenever you decide to turn toward it β tonight, next month, or three years from now.
The light doesn't go out. Whenever you're ready, it's still here.

You don't have to want recovery 100% to start it.
That's the part nobody tells you. Most people who walk through our doors are somewhere between "I know something has to change" and "I'm terrified of what that means." That's enough. Motivation isn't a prerequisite β it's something that grows once you're already moving, not something you have to manufacture before you take the first step.
Ambivalence isn't a red flag. It's just honest. Come as you are.

Nobody talks about how much of recovery is rebuilding trust with yourself.
Not the big, dramatic kind of trust β the small kind. Trusting that when you say you'll go to the meeting, you'll go. That when you say you're going to call instead of disappearing, you'll call. Every kept promise to yourself is a brick. It takes a while to notice you've built a wall strong enough to lean on.
If you're in the brick-laying phase right now, unglamorous as it is β that's not nothing. That's the foundation.

You are allowed to become someone your past self wouldn't recognize.
Not a "fixed" version. Not a performance of okay-ness for everyone else's comfort. Just someone who gets to have mornings that don't start in dread, relationships that don't run on damage control, and a future that isn't just a countdown to the next crisis. That person isn't a fantasy β we watch people become them here, every week.
Whoever you were before doesn't get the final word. You do.

The tide doesn't ask permission before it turns. It just does β quietly, steadily, on its own schedule, whether or not anyone's watching from the shore.
Recovery works the same way. Some days you'll feel like you're moving backward. You're not failing β you're mid-tide. The water always comes back in. What matters is that you're still standing on the beach when it does, instead of walking away.
Keep standing. The turn is coming, even on the days it doesn't feel like it.

A relapse is a moment, not a verdict.
If someone you love β or you yourself β slips after progress, here's the truth that doesn't get said enough: it doesn't erase the work that came before it. It doesn't mean treatment "didn't work." Recovery isn't a single unbroken streak; for a lot of people, it's a series of returns. What matters most is what happens in the next hour, not what happened in the last one.
Come back. That's the whole instruction. Come back.

Took the guys to Yosemite this weekend and made memories thatβll last a lot longer than the soreness in our legs. ποΈ We hit the trails, jumped in the water, ate way too much good food, and ended the nights laughing over a few rounds of Mafia around the table. Moments like these remind us what recovery really looks like β brotherhood, adventure, and showing up for each other, one day at a time.

Nobody talks about how loud your brain gets in early recovery β and nobody talks about how quiet it eventually gets, either. That quiet is worth fighting for. If you're in the loud part right now, you're not behind. You're just early.
