Marin Animal Transport to Caring Homes Tragically, the difference between life and death for a dog or a cat in the shelter system is minutes.
Oftentimes, they just need a soft spot to land for a day or two while fosters are lined up or other rescues are brought on to help. Our mission is to help give them the day or two they need to find placement and not end up in the back room when their time runs out. We are foster based and rely on our fosters and support base to help support short and long term placement of these animals. For long term animals in our program, we adopt them out directly!

Update on baby girl Ziggy. After surgery to fix her broken jaw, which broke likely due to her hitting the floor without front legs, we waited for healing.
This poor girl has been through the wringer. Horribly broken front legs. We tried to repair them but that failed. We amputated them only to have her break her jaw without the stability of 4 legs. Her jaw was screwed back into place in hopes her bones would grow and repair. After a month, we got very bad news. Not healing and unstable. There was a gap between the bones. So we gave it 2 months in a muzzle and hoped nature would find a way.
Well good news. After 3+ months, the bone seems to have recovered and healing properly. We are cautiously optimistic for this girl and will give her another month of healing before getting the all clear.
We 🤞pray for you Zig.(before photo)

In early March, I saw a Nextdoor post “who’s cat is this, never seen her before”.
An all too familiar post. After I scanned her and found out her owner went into a retirement home and those left to tie up her affairs just threw her outside, I had kitty evaluated and examined. At 15+ years old and a plethora of medical issues, she needed fospice. Thankfully, after spending a few months with me, my vet and his wife willingly and loving cared for Tina in the last 6 weeks of her life. She was part of a family and felt the warmth of cuddling in a bed and having 4 legged siblings.
We let her go today. An ending with dignity and love. Thank you to Dr Dimaio and Georgia. Saying goodbye is so hard, but knowing it was for the best softens the pain.
You were loved Tina.

Update on Momma Gwendolina and baby Rex, the front pawless pup. I see them almost daily as they are now the ambassadors at Novato Vet Hospital. They’ve been adopted by Dr DiMaio and are living their best lives. Once Rex stops growing, we may address his handicap with prosthetics, but for now he gets around very well.

Stanley is off to his foster to adopt home. His hair on his muzzle is sprouting and the cuteness, I mean come on.

Every rescuer knows the feeling. That moment when a foster finally has a “good p**p”. It’s not glamorous nor is it fun. Quite the opposite. Simba has an existing adopter and kids waiting on him. But he needs to be cure of ringer and more importantly, his GI issues. After multiple animas and trips to the ER to clear him out, we still haven’t gotten a firm handle on his p**p. But he has improved and is just the sweetest boy that loves attention, despite his stinking.

4 days ago this sweet lil guy was sitting in a cold shelter cage with infected and abcess riddled lymphnodes. His face was swollen with pus filled sores. He was lateral, lethargic and not eating. He was going to be euthanized on the 11th
Today he is watching the Big 10 championship snug in bed and healing nicely. This is what fostering and rescue is about.
