While sensitive sites and wetlands are our typical application, we can build boardwalks just about anywhere! This site required a boardwalk to extend from existing grade to a 15' high road crossing. We still used helical pile foundations to reduce durations and site disturbance.

🔩 On Site With ECP — New Haven, CT

In this episode, Brandon Walter joins Conte Company on a challenging retrofit project inside a 50-year-old building originally supported by timber piles. The team is installing over 600 piles, including 1.75" square bar helicals and Drivecast grouted displacement piles in areas requiring 120 kip ultimate compression capacity.

This site came with real-world challenges — loose fill, slag, steel debris, collapsing material, and only 10.5 ft of headroom indoors. The crew adapted on the fly with backfilling techniques to maintain stability while advancing piles through difficult conditions.

Projects like this prove why helical solutions excel when access is tight and loads are critical. Great work to everyone involved. 👷‍♂️

Conte Company is currently installing Drivecast™ Grouted Displacement Piles on a project in Waterbury, CT. This project was originally specified for ductile iron piles, but Drivecast was a more cost-effective solution with a shorter friction bond length and smaller steel cross section. ECP
