On December 5, SWA had an Information Table about the College Consolidation. In short, the College Consolidation is a plan presented by Mark Ojakian, President of the CT College System, to merge all 12 CT Community colleges to save money. He claims the saved money would go towards more student services.

However, with this plan, NCC will become a branch college, and not be able to provide the student services it does now. Also, NCC would loose many things such as faculty (ex. the president, teachers, etc), donations/scholarships to the NCC Foundation, grants, and if this plan should fail, NCC will lose its accreditation, as one of the best CT community colleges, which we can never get back.

Legislators will be voting on this matter on Dec 14; it will go into effect in Fall 2018. To support our protest against the is event please sign the Please sign the petition to help protest this event, come to upcoming events, or email us to be a part of the fight for future.
