Unfortunately our May run ends here with an intense and close loss to a rematch with William Marchese and Sea Dragon’s Roar! This time it was a fair slugfest. No switch issues this time, it went the full 3 minutes and we just barely lost a judges decision.

We can’t thank the NHRL community enough for supporting us through this journey and we also give a big thanks to our opponents and, of course, our amazing team that has repaired our bot very well after every match. We will not be coming to the June event but we will see everyone in August with Nubert back again and a brand-new collaboration bot with Josh Belanger of Red Hawk fame!!

A major achievement has been unlocked in our career! We are happy to announce we got our first ever win over a builder on the TV show BattleBots!! 😀 Brandon Unger with Minimum Viable Product came out swinging but we had the perseverance and the reliability to make it through the fight victorious. This is a big win for us and we can’t thank our wonderful team enough.

Our first fight of NHRL May 2023 ends in success!! 💪 Our first fight of the day was against a first time driver of the bot Fe Fan from the Bad Crew, a high school combat robotics club. The fight was close, and both bots ended the match crippled, but Nubert advances to fight Crashfest via a judges’ decision!! We can’t wait to see what new wacky things happen today.

Unfortunately our undefeated run ended at Caldera’s hands. However a strategic tap out has saved our bot for the third match!! Can’t wait to bring more Nubert to Norwalk!!

We successfully made it through a fiery fight in the March event! MilkTankette is down and a new win is on Nubert’s record!

Nubert stayed afloat and battled the raging waves, but ultimately the jaws of Sea Dragon’s Roar snapped and it was off to the elimination bracket for us. We’re very happy that William was able to fight us and we are now waiting to fight the loser of Stag Beetle Bot and Jack Move. Nubert fought very hard, but ultimately it went to the dragon. After getting sent to Brazil by Sombra, we were knocked down to the elimination bracket and we had to deal with 1st Law from DEIsy Robotics.

In our robot’s crippled state, we could barely get our weapon and drive working. However, we managed to somewhat achieve controlled movement throughout the fight. The weapon quickly went out and a drive motor soon joined it. We knew that had we not fought Sombra, this would be a match we would win. However, we were left no choice and the damage had us tap out.

We hope for Nubert to return in September. We are currently assessing the damage and will work to fix it soon. September or not, you’ll se us soon! 😀

Our 2nd fight of the day was against one of the most superior bots in the entire field….Sombra. This is a team of professional robot builders from Brazil who brought in an impressive robot with a unique tri-tipped eggbeater.

They impressively managed to hit us and then hit us again as we made our way back to Earth. Damage from Sombra included a stretched weapon belt, both forks battered to death, and a good gash in both the left and backsides of our robot. Overall, they were the team that hurt us the most.

However, the Brazilians were very modest and polite, and they seemed happy to fight us. Big shoutout to AGVs Combat for being a great help and lending us a hand (wrench) post-fight.

Nubert’s first ever victory is in the books!

We were quaking in our boots as the fight started. We had a whole strategy planned. When the automated announcer said “fight, robots, fight” instincts kicked in. Nubert charged head on, and somehow this strategy worked! 😀😀

Our next fight is against the Brazilian team Sombra and we’re nervous. However, the Brazilian bot builders are very nice and promise to take it easy on us.
