We’re back! 🎉
As we gear up to dance, sing, create, and celebrate at Florence Night Out 2021, we're looking back at how FNO came to be. In the coming days, we'll revisit past festivals, share our favorite memories, and meet the team who makes it happen! Who’s excited?

Featured performers: Salman Hameed and Falsa
Salman Hameed is an astronomer and Charles Taylor Chair of Integrated Science and Humanities at Hampshire College. His primary research interest focuses on understanding the reception of science in the Muslim world and how Muslims view the relationship between science & religion. His past astronomy research was centered on understanding star formation in spiral galaxies. He teaches interdisciplinary courses at the intersection of science, society, and religion. Salman also runs Irtiqa (irtiqa-blog.com), a science & religion blog with an emphasis on scientific debates taking place in the Muslim world, hosts an online astronomy video series in Urdu, Science ka Adda, and has a regular astronomy segment for the Bill Newman show on WHMP and for Monte Belmonte on WRSI - 93.9 The River.
Falsa is a Philadelphia based ensemble who performs 14th century Sufi music, described as " the cure for alienation" and "music that's not about means to ends but about meaning and transcendence”. Umer Piracha sings vocals, accompanied by Siddharth Ashokkumar on carnatic violin, Tom Deis on guitar/harmonium, Paul Arendt on lead guitar, and Greg Foran on percussion. The effect of listening to Falsa is being transported both inwards and across centuries of joys, sorrows and longings.
Check out this collaboration TOMORROW at Live Art Magazine 5, presented with New England Public Radio at the Academy of Music Theatre!
