Reanimate the Bay State

In 1994, I curated a compilation CD entitled Hotel Massachusetts, released on my old label, Chunk Records, in the Spring of 1994. It's a warts and all portrait of a scene, described in a now-deleted Wikipedia entry: "Hotel Massachusetts is a 1994 Chunk Records release compiling songs by some of the musical acts featured regularly at the Bay State Hotel, a now-defunct Northampton, Massachusetts venue, booked and MC'd by Chunk founder Mal Thursday. Its 23 tracks are notable for not only capturing a cross-section of the Northampton indie rock scene of the early 1990s, but for including rare tracks by then- or later-famous acts such as Sebadoh, Silver Jews, Lyres, and New Radiant Storm King." Not to mention such Bay State regulars as The Unband, Ray Mason Band, and Zeke Fiddler.
