Despite the heat the fishing has remained quite decent. Early morning trout fishing has been fun with plenty of 15-17 inch fish around. Flounders are getting bigger and the Redfish bite has been sporadic in Bonaparte Creek, just look for all the guide boats. Ok folks, we're gonna try something new, a great idea borrowed from a fellow guide in Charleston. Starting Monday, June 11 I'm offering evening wade fishing trips on the flooded grass flats for tailing Redfish. The tide is right for about 4 or 5 days to take advantage of this unique fishery. I can take 6 people for $100 each and I'll provide spin tackle and or flies and leaders for the fly fishing guys. You need to wear old sneakers or wading boots for this experience. For an extra fee we can also provide a shore dinner of low country boil and ice cold beer while we watch one of the best sunsets on Earth. Wow, another year has come and gone, it's hard to believe that this is our 20th Anniversary and with close to 4000 trips under my belt I feel fortunate to be able to continue. Last year was not my best year personally, I struggled with lots of health issues and it's not over yet as I'm looking at neck surgery next month. No worries, I'll be fine but the reigns have been turned over to Capt Ken Salos from Tampa, Fla. Capt Ken ran the boat for me last year and did an outstanding job. Not only did he consistently put people on the fish but they all loved him, has great personality, and strong work ethic. Surprisingly the fishing has been pretty good, plenty of Trout and Reds around despite the brutal winter. Give me a call to reserve your spring trip, weekends are especially filling fast. I'm really looking forward to the 2018 season, it's been cold and in sure we had some sort of fish kill mainly just Trout. I don't think it was or is as bad as we originally thought. The past couple of days have produced quite a few nice Trout. After a hot tip from Big Trout Brandon Sauls is was pretty easy to find them in the canals behind OIB and Holden Beach. Trout Tricks and Vudu Shrimp seemed to do the trick but Betts has come out with a new soft plastic shrimp called the Perfect Shrimp, I've yet to fish them but they sure do have all the characteristics of what I consider a perfect shrimp. I've got a good feeling about the Spring Fishing ahead of us. We've got two 22 Pathfinder Bay Boats available for charter this year, so give us s call when you're ready to get your string tight.
