New Series “Whispered Prayer n.4”
Many artists say that they are inspired by nature. I might have said similar things and I make organic shapes with thread. But if I were to make a vacation plan, I will go see old art rather than going to mountains. Therefore, I’ve been feeling fake about saying nature inspires me… But recently I realized – I probably am influenced a lot by old Japanese religious way to look at nature as sacred thing. The notion helped me to see my art making differently.

“Tenderly Hidden” is currently on view as a part of 2 person show with at Sarratt Gallery .
I was going to make a kimono but ended up using a vintage Juban, which is an underwear for kimono. It made a sense with my theme of hiding feeling underneath. Shopping for this in Asakusa was also really fun🤗

I can’t come up with a New Year’s resolution at the very beginning of the year like everyone else. After the holidays are finally finished, and the big piece that I was working on is completed, I finally had a chance to reflect upon the last year and think about this year.
I feel like I was influenced too much by the outside. I want to be humble and pure, like when I just started making art.

Looking back 2025, I was so blessed with new challenges. I learned so much by trying new things not to mention lots of inspiration for future works. I really appreciate all the people who I met here for giving me encouragement to go on my path. Wishing everyone wonderful 2026♥️
The picture is a detail of work I’m finishing for the upcoming group exhibition - I wanted to finish before the new year but I must cook all day today for a new year meal, which is very important tradition of Japan. It is not only about eating, it’s about love, time spent for it, health, and aesthetics. It resonates with my art practice so much.

I became engrossed by Mandorla - its meaning, usage, and origin….
Such a magical, spiritual, feminine shape.
I admit this journey started by the image in Bonne of Luxembourg’s prayer book.
