Well, I had a surprise tonight…

I’m honored to share that my work received an Honorable Mention in the Suffolk Art League’s Beyond the Call exhibition.

It was an incredibly strong show, and I’m grateful to have my work included alongside so many talented veteran artists and storytellers working across different mediums. If you’re local, I definitely encourage you to go see it.

The two ceramic pieces I exhibited are part of an ongoing body of work exploring bold color, terra sigillata, and functional forms influenced by both mid-century German “Fat Lava” ceramics and ancient Banshan pottery traditions. I’ve been working toward creating forms and surfaces that balance structure, precision, and play, and it means a great deal to have this work recognized.

Thank you to the Suffolk Art League, the jurors, my fellow veterans in the exhibition, and everyone who continues to support my work and journey in clay.

These teapots are in order from March 1st to now.

I’ve been in the studio doing the work—pushing form, reworking proportions, figuring out what I’m actually trying to say with these pieces.

Some days it feels like nothing is moving. But laid out like this, I can see it—small shifts adding up.

Still chasing that balance:a little weird, a little ancient, a little off the beaten path.

Not there yet. But closer.

Dropped these two pieces off today for the Beyond the Call exhibition at the Suffolk Art Gallery.

I walked in expecting to see eagles, flags, and familiar symbols of service—but what I found instead was something quieter, more personal, and honestly more powerful.

The work already in the gallery speaks less about the image of service and more about the experience of it—memory, identity, transition, and the life that comes after.

That’s the space I’m interested in too.

These pieces are part of that exploration—structure and discipline meeting color, movement, and something a little more open.

Excited to be included in this show alongside other voices telling their version of the story.

On view April 28 – June 12. Reception: May 8, 6–9 PM

137 test tiles.

Thank goodness for my extruder—because running out of test tiles mid-testing is the worst.

I’ve got a few glaze ideas I’ve been wanting to push, and this is the groundwork that makes it possible.

Not the flashy part of the process—but definitely one of the most important.

On Tuesday I drove down to to deliver some work for their upcoming fundraiser dinner (check out the link in their bio for the online auction!).

While I was there I got to spend some time with my residency fam and catch up with and .

I didn’t take a single picture while I was there… not one! Clearly I was enjoying being present and soaking up the moment, but now I kind of wish I had documented at least a little bit.

These are the pieces that made the trip.

Earlier this week I had the chance to be part of a panel discussion for the Hampton Roads Pride Community Connection series. The conversation focused on community building, support, and the impact women have in bringing people together.

As someone who’s built a community around clay, these discussions resonate deeply with me. My work—both in the studio and personally—often revolves around the idea of gathering and connection.

Thank you to for the invitation and to the wonderful women who shared their stories and made it such an uplifting evening.
