Symphonic
live like the gospel is true
Symphonic is a group of people committed to being a city within our city, an alternate city where our friends and neighbors can see and experience what it's like to live within the kind of kingdom Jesus told people about; a place of good news concerning the primary issues of life... like sex, money, power, and identity. We gather once a week to be reminded and encouraged about our calling to live
shifting our allegiance from something else to Jesus is costly...leaving our allegiance with something that ultimately fails costs us everything
"All the lofty humility of the abstract pluralist cannot beautify the noise of a million clashing voices and truth claims; eventually, we grow weary of the end product and seek a less polluted scene." - Jill Carattini
Are you weary of the noise? Tired of the pollution? We are too. Come hang out with us this Sunday and find out how beautiful the melody of Jesus truth is.
Change.
Pastor Ed has called for a month of prayer at UCCON and invited Symphonic to participate. On Tuesday nights from 630-730p all who want to pray please come to the church.
The building faired pretty well during the storm. We have a few inches of water to pump out of the basement and we now know for certain we have some major leaks in the roof, but not bad overall.
For anyone looking for some appropriate hurricane reading material, check out Psalm 29 around 2pm tomorrow.
Whoever invited Irene to church on Sunday, you're on my list...

It is a work of true genius to make complex things understandable; to make them knowable. This is why Jesus is genius of genius because he makes the most complex thing in the universe (God) knowable to us.
Place is just as important as purpose. Once we know what we are supposed to do we have to know where to do it.

...and once again we hold in our hands the promise that God is renewing the earth.
Pastor Ron from last Sunday: When people play Monopoly, everyone wants Park Place and Boardwalk. If you live in Hampton Roads you want the Boardwalk, but nobody wants Park Place. God gave us Park Place. He wants us here. This place is significant, just as significant as a backwater called Galilee and a dumpy town called Nazareth, where the Lord sent Gabriel to find Mary, and announce the coming of Jesus.
