We’re grateful for the time we shared together as we closed out A Peek Into the Disciplines.

Yesterday, we finished our three-week series on the spiritual disciplines with a focus on fasting, looking at John 4:27–38.

Fasting reminds us that we do not live by physical bread alone. It helps us make room to depend on God, listen for His voice, surrender our appetites, and hunger more deeply for Him.

As school starts back, routines return, and calendars fill up again, this was a timely reminder that we need rhythms that help us stay close to Jesus.

We’re grateful for worship, God’s Word, and everyone who gathered with us yesterday.

School is back, summer rhythms are shifting, and many of us are settling into new routines. As life starts to fill back up, this is a meaningful time to make Sunday worship part of the rhythm — and to invite someone to join you.

Community Prayer Meeting:
Join us at Coaster Coffee on September 2 at 6:30 PM as we pray for our church, our city, and our community.

Family Meeting:
We’ll have a short family meeting on September 6 following the gathering. If [OV]Church is your church home, make plans to stay for a few minutes as we talk about some exciting new things on the horizon!

Follow Class:
Our six-week Follow class begins September 13 at 9:00 AM. This is a great next step for growing as a disciple and learning what being a follower of Jesus looks like at [OV]Church.

Baptism at the Bay:
Baptism at the Bay is happening September 20 directly following the gathering. If you’re ready to publicly declare your faith in Jesus, we’d love to help you take that step.

What a gift it was to gather, worship, and pray together at [OV]Church yesterday.

We continued our series on the Spiritual Disciplines with a focus on prayer, and we were grateful to welcome Rev. Dr. Jimmy Brockway from Beach Church as he brought the message.

We also prayed over everyone stepping into a new school year: OVCA staff, public school teachers and staff, and college students returning to campus.

May we be a people who do not just talk about prayer, but practice it.
