42 million Americans got in their cars, boarded airplanes, and took buses, trains or cruised ships to celebrate our nation’s 239th birthday with friends and family.
Massive Independence Day celebrations were seen in big cities such as New York, San Fransisco, Boston, Washington D.C but some very patriotic and colorful celebrations were also seen in many of the USA’s smaller towns.

BasiQa attended the Annual GMSDC meeting held at Coca Cola Center on March 3. The meeting brought members of Georgia Minority Supplier Diversity Council together along with special guest speakers, such as Cassius Butts (SBA), Danny Boston (Georgia Tech) and Nancy Wright Whatley (Metro Atlanta Chamber). GMSDC President Stacey Key kicked off the meeting by highlighting the organization mission, core values and vision: empowering minority business entrepreneurs to reach their full potential. The event ended with an informal cocktail party which provided the ideal environment for building contacts and networking.

The American holiday of Thanksgiving celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November is the time when the entire BasiQa family and friends mark the occasion by coming together to enjoy an assortment or tasty foods from around the world.
This idea behind Thanksgiving ceremony celebration is similar to the crop festival in Barbados, Dia de Ao de Graas in Brazil, Moon Festival in China, Tet Trung Thu in Vietnam, Kadazan Harvest in Malaysia, Homowo yam festival in Ghana, Pongal in India and Chusok in Korea. The list is endless. The only difference in the festivals is date and the customary rituals but the tradition behind the concept remains the same: to thank God for an abundant harvest. Happy Thanksgiving !

BasiQa was one of the few companies nominated for the Eagle Award at the GMSDC Spirit of Alliance Gala. The annual event recognizes those businesses that have made a positive impact on the community according to Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council standards and core values. Tess and Ariel of BasiQa attended the event held this year at Atlanta Marriot Marquis.

Joel just turned 50. This great milestone was celebrated with friends and family at BasiQa and other venues. It was an emotional moment for Joel as he received touching words of compliments and wishes as well as countless expressions of gratefulness from many people around the world whose lives have changed thanks to him...Happy 50th Birthday Mr. President!

BasiQa’s Tess Turrin and Darryl Williams @ GMSDC Business Opportunity Expo. The annual GMSDC Business Opportunity Expo allows ethnic minority suppliers to meet and interact with procurement authorities during state-of-the-art development sessions and workshops featuring internationally known speakers and experts. The event is the largest business marketing trade show of its kind in the state of Georgia due to its scope and plethoric number of exhibitors and participants.

Three hundred years ago after an abundant harvest the Pilgrims were relieved and happy for surviving a lengthy and fierce New England winter, and were very thankful for having plenty of food to feed their families...today, the entire basiQa team celebrated by gathering and enjoying a potluck of international cuisine...Happy Thanksgiving!
