‼️Ziggy Update‼️
Ziggy had his dental appointment yesterday and after his CT scan they confirmed he had an abscess which they successfully removed. The scan also showed at least one, possibly two, cracked lower teeth that appeared to be unrelated to the abscess. After he heals from his surgery we will figure out how to address the other issues with his teeth, but for now, he is recovering at home from the abscess removal and receiving antibiotics. We are hoping for no complications and that the healing process goes smoothly.
Thank you for taking great care of Ziggy!
If you’d like to contribute toward Ziggy’s medical care, please visit the link in our bio for ways to donate. Your support fuels this mission and our ability to provide great medical care to our residents 💕

Nick’s birthday is this weekend and to celebrate we are doing a BIRTHDAY FUNDRAISER 🥳 Fun fact: every year during the holidays Nick asks for treats and presents for the animals in his work’s Secret Santa gift exchange! He loves the Hooligans so very much and loves being able to do this work. It would mean the world to him if you would support our mission in honor of his birthday and the incredible work he puts in here day after day 💕 Let’s get to $1,000!!
To bring some EXTRA joy to him, share your favorite memory of Nick and the Hooligans below 🤗
We had a busy weekend here at the sanctuary! Saturday we hosted a group volunteer day and had an awesome crew. We had members from the , employees from Amazon, and some individuals who generously spent their morning with us doing chores around the sanctuary. Nick had the pre-vet students help conduct wellness exams on all our chickens and turkeys, which was a great hands-on experience for them. On Sunday, the piggies got their hooves trimmed by and we gave Rico a fresh shave and a good wash down to manage his urinary challenges. We also have some seed starts going that we’re excited to get planted in the near future! Thanks to all our volunteers and service providers for helping us care for our residents here 💕 Hope everyone had a great weekend ☀️🌱🐷

We’ve been working on building our garden and have some exciting and ambitious goals swirling around our heads 🤩 It has been such a lovely experience learning how to nurture plants and the environment around us in a sustainable and ecologically healthy way. Today, we harvested some romaine from the garden and shared it with the ducks. Earlier in the week the rabbits were able to enjoy some freshly harvested lettuce as well 🥰
Right now we have romaine, strawberries, cilantro, onions, oregano, sage, thyme, marigolds, rainbow chard, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, basil, hot and sweet peppers, nasturtium, tomatoes, zucchini, and pumpkins growing!
Stay tuned for more garden content in the future!

It was a busy weekend here at the sanctuary! We updated some plumbing and ran new irrigation to the field and our new orchard, we had our monthly board meeting, and gave Freya a much needed mani/pedi 💅 The garden is also looking so beautiful and we can’t wait to watch it continue to prosper throughout the year, along with our new trees. It was hot, and we are tired 😅 but it was a beautiful weekend.
