Competition season for the fall/early winter is coming up quick. Our first competition this season will be the closest to our dojo at the moment, in Joplin. This is a great location for newer students that are wanting to try competition for the first time.

Even if you do not want to compete, you can still be involved! Our dojo is wanting to be more involved in these competitions as we learn the ropes ourselves and begin the process of starting a competition in the Springfield area. But we can't do that without the support of our local people! So for the 2026 Joplin Invitational, I have started a Sign-Up link for anyone wanting to assist. Don't see something on there, but still want to contribute? Just reach out, I will find something for you!

August Focus for our kids class was protein! One of our kiddos asked "how do I get better at Judo?" Well there are a lot of answers, but this month we focused on getting strong. And getting strong starts with your diet!

Closest competition to Nixa, get signed up today!

7th Annual Four States Invitational Judo Tournament A premier USA Judo sanctioned event open to all competitors, featuring Youth, Senior, Veteran, and Open divisions with $100 cash prizes for the Men's and Women's Open champions.

Last year at this same time, we would have thought this was a big class for our Nixa dojo. Today, we enjoyed being able to spread out for breakfalls while many of our Judokas were on vacation.

We have two imposters in our class today...I wonder who they might be...

You know what you have been missing lately? Parent's Night Out at the dojo!

Back by popular demand, we are hosting another party for the kids, and this one is going to be awesome! Kids age 2-15 are welcome. Any kids that are not current students just need a waiver to participate.

Celebrating 250 years of our country's history is pretty surreal. What is one thing you have learned recently about our history?

Here's something I learned recently, in relation to Judo in the US. While I knew that we have been practicing Judo in the Olympics since 1964, I learned recently that Judo is one of only a few martial arts in the Olympics. Judo, Karate, and Taekwondo are the only martial arts currently on the roster.
