Instead of a no kings protest can we get a “Congressional Term Limits!!!” Protest? Pretty sure that is something everyone can get on board with, however, things that unify the people always get quelled pretty quickly.

Yesterday I had a visit from the SBA to present me with the Veteran Owned Small Business Person of the Year award for the Buffalo District. Matt Coleman, the Regional Administrator for the Atlantic Region, Victoria Reynolds the Buffalo District Director as well as Virginia Smith (not pictured) the Deputy District Director came to my office to present the award in person with my brother (USMC) by my side! Special thank you to Susan Steffan and Sean Ryan and the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership - UBuffalo School of Management for nominating me for this award.

During my presentation I had a chance to thank the SBA and Federal Govermnent as a whole, for standing by its small businesses. From my service to our country to utilizing the The Post-9/11 GI Bill, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, SCORE, the Niagara County SBDC, to programs like the federal 8a program and the SDVOSB program, I have used every resource possible to build and grow my company. I hope to be a beacon of light for others to follow. The resources are there you just have to put the work in and believe in yourself!

President Trump has put a freeze on federal financial assistance. Among many other things, this means a freeze on Community Development Block Grants (CDBG). CDBG funds are American tax dollars that are allocated towards towns and cities to help improve their public roads, public sidewalks, public parks etc. Annually, the City of Buffalo, City of Niagara Falls, as well as other towns/cities in WNY and non profit organizations are able to have access to these funds to upgrade and improve critical local infrastructure, putting millions of dollars into our local economy, providing work for hundreds of contractors and high paying jobs for thousands of workers.

Aside from negatively impacting infrastructure upgrades, non profits that rely on these funds like the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Homeless shelters, meals on wheels, habitat for humanity, Senior centers, economic development corporations, neighborhood revitalization programs all will greatly be affected!

Yesterday, I had the honor of serving as a panelist for the My Brother’s Keeper program at Lockport High School.

Alongside five inspiring fellow entrepreneurs, I had the opportunity to share insights and experiences with an incredible group of young men aspiring to become entrepreneurs. It was truly inspiring to see their passion and curiosity.

A special thanks to Maureen Henderson, Director of the Niagara County Small Business Development Center, for the invitation to be part of such an impactful event.

One of my co-panelists shared a powerful reminder: “Opportunities don’t pass you by—they just go to someone else.” Make sure you’re the one seizing those opportunities when they come your way!

It is our obligation to keep inspiring and empowering the next generation of leaders!

When people see me driving a Denali, or on a vacation in Hawaii or living a nice life, remember it wasn’t always this way. I got out the Army and was literally pushing carts at the grocery store! No job was beneath me! Never has been! At $9.25 an hour I turned that cart pushing position into being a Management Intern, the only person from my store selected that year! We had three different sized carts and i figured out how to push three rows of them at a time! Even the handicap carts I figured out how to double production as seen here! I was on a management track and still was never to proud to hit the lot and move some mf carts when that is what the team needed! Every opportunity is a means to an end! Lead from the front in everything you do! Life is good now because I was willing to grind like no others back then! Photo circa 2009!

Yesterday I had the honor and privilege to speak to prospective students at Niagara University as their distinguished alumni. Little did I know that, yesterday was also the anniversary of my acceptance to Niagara University back in 2010. Today was the anniversary of me being selected as the Leadership Niagara Emerging Leader of the year in 2016. These events that happened many years ago have been major catalysts for the success that I have had in the years since then.

Always remember that your work is unfinished, your castle is never built. Always believe that what you have accomplished, is merely something that is in the past. They may shape who you are today, but what are you doing tomorrow? Ut Non Captivi…take no prisoners. Your determination is your greatest asset. Never be satisfied, always want more, always seek more and be relentless in your pursuits!!
