Like any tool, IQ testing has its advantages and drawbacks. Understanding both sides helps families make informed decisions.
Pros:
-Identifies Strengths and Weaknesses
IQ testing can help uncover areas where a child excels or struggles, guiding parents and educators toward effective strategies.
-Supports Early Intervention
When learning or attention challenges are detected early, families can seek targeted help before frustration or self-doubt sets in.
-Provides Clarity and Direction
For parents who feel uncertain about why schoolwork is difficult—or too easy—an evaluation can provide validation and actionable insight.
-Helps with School Planning
Scores can assist in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 accommodations, ensuring that a child’s needs are met in the classroom.
Cons:
-Risk of Labeling
Numbers can sometimes overshadow the child behind them. It’s important to remember that an IQ score doesn’t define potential, creativity, or emotional intelligence.
-Cultural and Testing Bias
Standardized tests can be influenced by language, background, and exposure, which may not fully reflect a child’s true ability.
-Performance Factors
Anxiety, fatigue, or environmental distractions can affect results, meaning scores might not always capture a child’s typical performance.
-Limited Scope
IQ testing focuses on certain cognitive abilities and doesn’t measure social skills, motivation, or emotional resilience—important factors in overall success.
Please reach out if you have more questions about IQ testing. We're here to help.
While summer usually inspires grounding organically, if your schedule, job, season of life, etc. leaves little time for rest or reflection, you can take intentional action to help yourself feel present and refreshed. Do you have a favorite grounding activity? Share with us!
What is an Auditory Processing Disorder? There’s a complex and multi-step sequence that happens in our brains from when noise reaches our ears to when the brain interprets what is being heard. If any part of that process goes wrong, we might not understand what we are hearing.
This can lead to confusion in conversations. But it can also mean that children miss out on significant aspects of their education. Children who deal with auditory processing disorders can have a hard time in class. They can struggle to keep up with the pace of the instructor and not absorb what is being taught. This is why early identification and intervention can be so valuable.

Summer often feels like a natural invitation to relax. Longer days, warmer weather, and a shift in routine can make life feel lighter and more open. For many people, grounding comes more easily this time of year.
But not always.
If your days are still spent indoors, working through long hours, or if your calendar quickly fills with travel, activities, and commitments, summer can start to feel just as overwhelming as any other season. Instead of feeling refreshed, you may find yourself rushing from one thing to the next—missing the very moments that make summer special.
That’s where intentional grounding comes in.
