🔨 From Rotted and Failing to Solid and Sale-Ready 🔨

Another project completed here in historic downtown Wiscasset.

What started as a simple stair replacement quickly turned into a much larger structural rebuild once demolition revealed extensive deterioration and hidden framing issues beneath the existing entry.

The original front landing had significant rot, settlement issues, and lacked the structural integrity needed for a conventional ledger-supported design. After evaluating the existing conditions, we redesigned the entire entry as a self-supporting structural system built independently of the house.

✅ New structural framing and anchorage
✅ Composite decking and stair treads
✅ PVC trim package for low maintenance
✅ Grading and site restoration
✅ Built with future expansion in mind should a future owner decide to add a covered entry or porch roof

Projects like this are a good reminder that older homes often hide surprises once work begins. The key is adapting the design to existing conditions while building something that will last.

Three-Season Porch Transformation | Wiscasset, Maine

This project started as a seasonal porch and evolved into a much more comfortable and functional space for the homeowner.

Scope of work included:

One of our favorite parts of a project is watching the vision come together. What starts as framing, insulation, and rough surfaces slowly transforms into a finished space that feels warm, bright, and inviting.

The combination of the natural pine ceiling, custom trim details, and clean white shiplap completely changed the character of this room while keeping the coastal Maine cottage feel intact.

Big transformation day on this porch project.
Base cabinets are set, butcher block counters are underway, and the wall finish work is finally tying everything together. Once the trim, ceiling, and wall details start connecting, the whole room takes on a completely different feel.
A ton of prep, leveling, layout work, and detail work went into getting to this stage — now the vision is starting to show itself.

This space had strong bones—coffered ceiling, natural light, and a stone fireplace—but it was missing depth, contrast, and a finished architectural feel.

We reimagined it with:
• richer wood tones and unified trim detail
• enhanced contrast through wall color & balance

• a warmer, more intentional lighting feel
