Due to staffing shortages, increasing costs, and limited council support, we regret to inform you that we have cancelled our 2023 Merit Badge Weekend at Mount St. Helens. However, we are committed to continuing to provide valuable educational opportunities to scouts through our new approach of providing free asynchronous curricula and resources for troop outings to Mount St. Helens.

Specifically, we are in dire need of a qualified Camp Health Officer. This Scouter must have a professional medical credential with a wilderness medicine endorsement, per BSA NCAP Standards.

Scouting Returns to Mount St. Helens This Summer!

Join us for our 2023 Merit Badge Weekend on June 2-4 at the Mount St. Helens Science and Learning Center. For $65/scout and $45/adult, participants can engage in learning activities focused on the Geology and Soil & Water Conservation merit badges. Registration opens on February 1. Home Volcano Scouting is a group of scouts, adult leaders, and public land managers who are working to bring Scouting back to Mount St. Helens through stewardship, education, adventure, and leadership opportunities.

Registration is now open for several of our "off-season" virtual merit badge courses at https://www.volcanoscouting.org/merit-badges. These courses are only $5.00/scout and range in length from one month to four months, depending on the merit badge. This year, we have elected to offer merit badges needed for the Distinguished Conservation Service Award, in addition to Eagle-required merit badges helpful for those interested in careers in the outdoors.
