Could wood be part of Delaware’s energy future?

When we talk about an “all-of-the-above” approach to energy, there may be one renewable resource we’re overlooking — one Delaware already has in abundance.

Delaware has approximately 352,000 acres of forestland, yet the state continues to lose more than 1,000 acres of forest each year to development. CRI’s latest article explores whether creating a viable market for lower-value wood could support Delaware’s forest-products industry, encourage better forest management, and provide another locally available energy resource.

Other states are already putting modern wood energy to work. Could Delaware do the same?

Most people have never heard of heavy water.

But what if it became the next rare earth?

As America races to secure critical supply chains for energy, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing, one overlooked material could become essential to our economic future—and Delaware may be uniquely positioned to lead.

In this new article, Andrew Cottone, Ph.D., Visiting Fellow at the Caesar Rodney Institute's Center for Energy & Environment, explores why heavy water is emerging as a strategic resource, how global supply is shifting, and why Delaware has an opportunity to act before the rest of the country catches up.
