A lot of albums turned 25 this month (with a heavy set of them coming out on 9/11, that’s crazy still). I decided to do some of my favorites with the first one being “Halo” by Soil. Scars is a really underrated Post Grunge album with Nu Metal flare. It’s slept on but this album literally has no skips, it’s basically Nu Metal Alice In Chains

A special cover for today, “Parasite” by Another Day Dawns . I fell in love with this song I saw them open for Motionless last year at Archer Hall. It’s one I’ve been working in the background most of this year. The added bonuses being actually getting to record my new cabinet (a Bogner Uberkab) and redo everything sans vocals. I’m pretty proud of this one

I’ve been getting into recording my cabinets with mics since I’ve got my cab replaced and I wanted to see where I can get with it. I actually did this cover 3 years ago, but wanted to show how I’ve improved with recording and mixing. Better tones, actually mixing up my acoustic instead of recording the electric part, bass and gain staging, the works. Not a bad come up since 2023

In between covers my cabinet broke down and I couldn’t play for almost 2 weeks. When I finally got that problem sorted out, I decided to have some fun. I’ve been loving the new album “Decades”, even if it’s a Motionless album that’s guitar heavy. I’ve been digging the EDM they went with.

I’ve been working in the background trying to figure out an approach to record my own speakers and tones. While I have digital gear like a Quad Cortex and an Axe Fx 2, I still have a general love for real amps. Brandon Gaeta has been really helping me learn and understand the recording process for gear and I did a test. I was a little shocked that all 4 speakers sounded vastly from each other, with only one generating the sort of Nu Metal I was looking for out of the box. I may or may not start replacing some of the speakers but maybe I’m being too much. Let me know
