I’M BACK!!!

I’ve spent most of the summer away from guitar, but here we are. 20 Years of by Three Days Grace starts off with “It’s All Over”. Let me know how the tones are, I didn’t know whether to go with my Quad Cortex or my Axe-Fx 2.

Train school has been kicking my ass, it’s almost 2 weeks passed my birthday and I’m only now getting around to opening my own gifts. I got an EC-1000 in pearl white as a good contrast to my main PRS Custom 24 and finally found a Hughes & Kettner amp that I really like. I tried the Trilogy and the TriAmp Mk 1; the former didn’t have a lot of gain and the latter sounded amazing in the room but poorly in a recorded mix. The Duotone so far is everything positive I’ve heard from the TriAmp Mk1 is a stripped down package. I’m definitely going to aim to get the Mk 2 down the line.

just celebrated 20 years of End of Silence as well as the final performance with their original singer Michael Barnes, so I thought it was perfect timing for this one. I had this in the background for about 3 years now but only felt confident enough in my mixing skills. All guitar, bass and drumming is re-created from scratch.

A cover 4 years in the making. As soon as I had my first listen to Scoring the End of the World I was shook when I heard “Sign of Life”, it was the perfect blend of what I love about Motionless with bits of Breaking Benjamin. A few years later, getting a guitar very similar to Ryan Sitkowski and figuring out their tone and here we are!!! Don’t worry, I’ll be getting to songs from Decades once the full album is out

I’ve been working on this in the background for most of this year. 10 years ago, my mom and stepdad made me spend my winter semester off from college studying for a MTA conductor’s test. I spent 3 months studying, being told that this would secure me a job after college in case acting didn’t take off for me. I took that test on April 30th 2016 where I’d rather had been with my best friend at the time for her birthday. I passed the test with an 87.5 where my stepdad told me I’d be put on a list based on how high I scored and how fast I had registered for the test. He told me the list would stand for 5 years.

5 years passed, we’re in the thick of COVID, that best friend was long gone and I was as far away from acting as you could get. I was trying to do everything to survive the pandemic, the world and how much I had hated myself for failing with that friend. I figured the list had expire and that I was on my own to make it as a semi functional adult. Another 5 years climbing and navigating the landscape of security and I get my phone blown up by MTA accepting me for a job. I don’t know if the list got frozen due to COVID or what but here we are.

5 months of long and annoying processing and I got the job. It’s crazy that something I did 10 years ago actually mattered. Having most of my life being told I don’t matter or being told how insignificant I was compared to others, it’s difficult to believe the other side. It wasn’t that birthday or that friend that mattered, it was the work I put in to survive and being a worthwhile person that mattered.

Testing out some presets on my Quad Cortex and decided to do “Lost” as a cover. When it came out for Meteora’s 20th anniversary it was so impactful at the time; it felt like hearing from an old friend again. It grabbed my attention until Linkin Park dropped “Fighting Myself”. I can’t believe they had these bangers locked in a vault

Ohio, you have yet to disappoint me. Another great weekend at making new friends and memories. 50,000 people can be a bit overwhelming, but everyone has each other’s backs and it’s an adventure.
