This week, we recognize Men's Health Week. Regular cancer screenings are a crucial part of maintaining your health, and early detection is the best tool we have for fighting prostate cancer. The American Cancer Society recommends these screening guidelines:
Age 50 (Average Risk): Men with at least a 10-year life expectancy should discuss screening with their provider.
Age 45 (High Risk): African American men and men who have a first-degree relative (father/brother) diagnosed with prostate cancer before age 65.
Age 40 (Highest Risk): Men with more than one first-degree relative diagnosed with prostate cancer at an early age.

June is National Cancer Survivors Month, and it is our privilege to highlight Liz Pope, who shared that she feels both honored and humbled to represent cancer survivors. Because behind every milestone is a story - and the people who walk alongside us through it.
“In the summer of 2024, my husband, Charles, completed 12 weeks of radiation for prostate cancer and then I began radiation for an aggressive basal cell in my nose. That summer, we were both bell ringers, a moment we will never forget.
I finished radiation in September, and shortly after, I learned I would need surgery. My surgery was scheduled for the same day as our son’s major open-heart surgery, from which he did not recover.
During that incredibly difficult time, Dr. Misleh gave us the confidence and courage we needed to move forward with my treatment. He gives each patient empathetic, individualized attention - taking the time to listen, address concerns, and carefully monitor each person’s treatment plan. I consider Dr. Misleh and the MOHC team a five-star choice.
Through it all, Charles has been by my side as my number one supporter and cheerleader. No one fights cancer alone.”
Moments like ringing the bell are powerful, made even more meaningful by the strength and resilience behind each survivor’s journey. At MOHC, we are honored to stand alongside patients and families through every step of their journey.
Today is National Blood Donor Day. For many people undergoing cancer treatment, donated blood isn’t just helpful—it’s lifesaving. Today, we honor blood donors and the hope they give to cancer patients every day.
If you’re eligible, consider donating. One donation can make a world of difference.
