EXCITING UPDATE 🎉 The ASPCA Community Veterinary Clinic by Kathy Taggares is now taking appointments for eligible residents and partners! This clinic will provide access to free and low cost veterinary services for thousands of underserved pet owners in the South Bay area each year. Eligible dog and cat owners can receive vaccinations, treatment for minor illnesses and injuries and spay/neuter surgeries.

This will be our FIFTH community clinic to have opened in the past six years, assisting over 150,000 cats and dogs across Miami and New York City locations since 2019. Accessible vet care positively impacts the health of pets, their families and the community!

Thank you to all our supporters, especially ASPCA donor Kathy Taggares, who has generously committed more than $4.8 million to bring these vital services to Los Angeles pets who need them most.

Less than a week has gone by, and yet another incident involving a New York City horse carriage has occurred. The ASPCA is deeply saddened to learn about the tragic death of a teenager after being thrown from a horse carriage in Central Park. The NYC City Council must pass Ryder's Law to prevent any further loss of life and finally put an end to carriage horses.

Thank you, Speaker Julie Menin, for committing to a hearing on Ryder's Law. We look forward to advocating for this long-needed legislation and working toward a safer future for both horses and New Yorkers.

We are horrified by the tragic death of a teenager after being thrown from a horse carriage in Central Park today and extend our deepest condolences to the family. This tragedy is a harrowing reminder that forcing horses to pull carriages through very loud, traffic-filled streets poses a serious danger to people and horses. To prevent any further loss of life, we urge the City Council to pass Ryder’s Law and finally put an end to carriage horses in NYC.

An 18-year-old man, a tourist visiting New York City, was killed after a Central Park carriage horse got loose and took off in the park on Wednesday afternoon.https://abc7ny.com/post/central-park-carriage-horse-gets-loose-leaving-1-person-injured-nyc/19317465/

PROTECT VULNERABLE ANIMALS TODAY! The U.S. Senate is working on its version of the Farm Bill, and we need your help to safeguard current protections for animals.

Buried in the version recently passed by the House of Representatives is a provision to eliminate existing state and local farm animal welfare laws. This includes popular state laws banning extreme confinement of farm animals and other cruel farming practices – putting billions of animals at risk.

You can use your voice and urge your Senators to REJECT any Farm Bill language that would overturn current protections for farm animals and threaten animals’ welfare. Visit aspca.org/FarmBill to act NOW!

CATEGORY IS: TABBIES! Meet some superbly striped felines looking for a home during Month, presented by ARM & HAMMER Cat Litter.

🧡 Diawara is a truly handsome boy with a curious mind and playful heart. He enjoys taking in the world around him, often observing the room and keeping an eye on the action before deciding where he'd like to join in.

🧡 Reaves’ easygoing, lovable personality makes him a staff favorite. He appreciates calm affection and enjoys spending his days relaxing in cozy spots, watching the world go by.

🧡 Not all cats enjoy hugs, but Crepe certainly does! This boy will happily lean his head towards your hand to ask for some pets. When he's not busy cuddling, Crepe is a fan of curling up in a sunny spot to take a nap.

🧡 Handsome Soba has an endlessly sweet personality! He’s a curious little guy who loves exploring, lying in cozy spots and turning every moment into playtime.

A huge thank you to ARM & HAMMER Cat Litter for helping us find homes for cats and kittens all Month long! Learn more about Diawara, Reaves, Crepe and Soba by visiting the link below.

🚨 ATTENTION: New World screwworm cases have recently been diagnosed in Texas and New Mexico.

The ASPCA is urging animal care and transport professionals to stay informed about New World screwworm (NWS), a parasitic fly whose larvae can cause severe wounds in animals. Although screwworm was previously considered eradicated in the U.S., recent cases have been diagnosed in Texas and New Mexico.

Organizations involved in animal transport and care should be prepared to recognize signs of infestation and follow prevention protocols. https://bit.ly/4uFchve

Take a chance on an underdog, meet Orion ✨

With his adorable, perfectly kissable head and soulful brown eyes, Orion is quietly working his way into all of our hearts, yet somehow is still waiting to find his adopter. While he isn't the type of dog to immediately run right up to a new person, winning his trust and affection is entirely worthwhile. Once you do so, you'll be rewarded with the sweetest cuddle bug and life partner who will lazily gallop alongside you during play sessions. Nap time gets 200% better with your very own Orion happily snoozing next to you.
