Meet Whimsy, a 5-month-old, 5-pound Domestic Shorthair with a heart as sweet as her name. This adorable little girl is ready to find her forever home and fill it with love, purrs, and plenty of playful charm. Whimsy is the perfect mix of cuddly and curious. She absolutely loves to snuggle and will happily settle in for a cozy cuddle while her gentle purr motor hums away. When you come home for the day, be prepared for the cutest welcome—she’ll excitedly weave in and out between your legs, letting you know just how happy she is to see you. This playful girl also enjoys racing up and down the hallway, batting at toys, and exploring her surroundings with kitten curiosity. When she’s ready to relax, you’ll often find her stretched out in her favorite sunny spot on the couch, soaking up the warmth like the little queen she is. Whimsy also loves the company of other cats and would be thrilled to have a feline friend to play and cuddle with. She was found in Puerto Rico alongside her brother and mother and brought to our sister shelter for some much-needed TLC. Now, she’s healthy, happy, and ready to start the next chapter of her life with a loving family. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion who will greet you with excitement and curl up beside you at the end of the day, Whimsy might just be your perfect match.

Esme was found abandoned on the side of the road nursing 12 puppies. All of her puppies were adopted by our ALR community, but now we all agree: it’s mom’s turn!

🐾 Sandy now lives in NJ with her parents, doggy sibling and two cat siblings. She will be going on lots of outdoor adventures with her new family - she already conquered her first hike, as seen in this picture!
🐾 Ren went home with a friend of ALR’s; they are super excited to welcome her and give her plenty of love and affection.
🐾 Less than 24 hours after arriving in the NYC area, Oreo went to his forever home! He now lives in Brooklyn Heights with his new Mom. Her daughter has an ALR alum, so Oreo will have a sato friend!
🐾 Asher is now officially an Upper West Sider! His parents had a beloved ALR dog who passed away recently; they are excited to open their hearts to Asher and plan to spend lots of time in Central Park.
🐾 Lady arrived and went straight into her foster-to-adopt home. She was rescued from a very neglectful home, now she’s getting allllll the attention she could ever want.
🐾 Happy Tails for gato Gordon! He’s a Brooklyn boy now to the sweetest couple - a match made in heaven!
🐾 Irina is now named Poppy and lives in NYC with her parents and doggie sister. She has been a regular camper at Camp Canine and loves playing with her friends!
🐾 Victoria is now named Nala and lives in PA. Her parents recently lost their dog to an unexpected illness, but they know he would have wanted them to open their hearts and home to another rescue dog. They fell in love with Victoria after just seeing a photo, and they plan to spend lots of time hiking and spoiling her.
🐾 Nubs now lives in CT with his new dad and doggie sibling. He is settling in and enjoying suburban life - and he still gets to see his foster family who lives nearby!

Last week we received 10 pets at intake (9 dogs, 1 cat). A number of them were puppies- all of whom have found their forever homes in just a handful of days. The two dogs left? The mothers of the litters that have since been adopted. ❤️‍🩹

Meet the moms:
🐾 Esme is approx 3 years old & 90lbs. She is a “gentle giant” who is pretty sure she’s actually just a lap dog. She loves all humans, dogs, and anyone she meets.
🐾 Magnolia is approx 3 years old & 35lbs. She loves to snuggle, go on long walks and sit in comfortable silence with her favorite human(s).

Both of these sweet girls made loving moms, even as their litters got adopted. But we think it’s time that they stop worrying about ANYTHING other than how much love they can fit into every moment with their soon-to-be-adoptive family. If you are looking for a gentle, loving and snuggly new best friend, adopt one of these sweet girls!
