My students are very excited about the Spider-Man Premiere!

Even though students are back to in-person learning, many teachers are continuing to teach class digitally on iPads, chrome books and laptops. However, we have seen that not all students are successful with this type of learning.

Below are 5 tips for dealing with digital learning in the classroom.

1. Keep a notepad in front of you for scrap work when doing homework.

2. Work out math, chemistry, physics, etc. problems on paper instead of just typing them into your calculator for a more visual experience and to be able to backtrack if you get a wrong answer.

3. Use a notebook to supplement your notes during class. (Write down what the teacher is saying, work through problems, add helpful hints, etc.)

4. Request printed exams. Test taking strategies such as underlining, highlighting and circling, are not always available on digital exams.

5. Creating study guides in your own handwriting has been shown to help a student remember material better than reading print on a screen. Write your own outlines, summaries and comparison charts based on your notes.

New York State Education Department is currently planning to administer 4 Regents Exams in June 2021: Earth Science, The Living Environment (Biology), English Language Arts and Algebra 1.
Although these exams will not impact graduation requirements, school districts may be using the data in various ways. In addition, the exams may be in lieu of a final exam for the course. For students looking into competitive colleges, they may opt to take the exam to enhance their transcript.

With all of this in mind and after such a challenging year, many students may not feel confident with the material that will be tested on the Regents Exams.
