The little furry, four footed, tiny beasts never go away even in the cold. You can see the tracks on top of the snow heading to or from the bait station.....the good thing, they stopped for a snack. The bait was chewed on, they went off to never, never land. Your best defence against mice, is to control the population on a monthly basis. The very least every other month. They multiply very quickly.

It's that time of year you may see more activity of rodents trying to find better shelter. (Truthfully.....they are always present, we just don't notice them as much) this rat found a bait station, the people living here were very surprised they could even have rats, but extremely glad they had bait stations around their home.
Every month, year round, I have on average 65% of the bait stations are active at locations.
Check around your home for cracks, gaps, holes, weather strips, do the best you can to seal up. Then protect your home, don't assume you won't have them because you are sealed up. Many people are surprised but usually when it is to late. Stored cars, motorcycles, lawn mowers, etc., get wires chewed, now think about your house walls, and attics with wires.
Best thing to do is preventive maintenance.

There is still time to treat the exterior of your home to protect against the invasion of Asian Lady Beetle, Box Elder, Spiders, Wasps, Earwigs.

Won't be long, now is the time to be thinking about getting a plan in place for the spiders, earwigs, boxelder, ants and creepy crawling bugs around and in your home, sheds, etc. May will be when you want to get started protecting your domain (unless we have good temps in April). If you want to maintain control and best results plan for May, July, September.

Here are a couple of things you can do around older buildings you don't want to put much money into to help keep the little fur guys out. No I did not do this but just sharing. Filling holes, cracks, gaps around pipes, wires, going into structures, weather strips for doors, gaps holes around pipes, plumbing etc going into attics, ceilings, make a huge difference
The foam can be shaved and sometimes painted, as well as tin or other materials used.

I don't want to creep anyone out, just making everyone aware our small pests are out and about all year. Some thoughts are they are cute, but.... The truth very destructive to homes, creating holes, chewing wires, creating potential fire hazards, health concerns, destroying the stored items, along with lawn mowers, wave runners, stored vehicles, and other items. They are cute to a point until you find out too late they are enjoying your stored areas and items. Be aware always and do what you can to protect your investments.

Evidence of our furry little guys moving around under the snow and looking for places to get into buildings. Some of them found the bait station and will be going off to never never land.
