This evening, I picked berries in my backyard. The blueberries are just ripening now. What are the berries on the right?

It's cherry season! I mistakenly bought a sour cherry tree instead of sweet. This tree produces small tart cherries! When they turn burgundy makes for delicious cherries. Eat fresh if you like tart and put into baked goods or sweetened yogurt to if you prefer sweeter. Do you want to help me remove the pits with my cherry pitter?

I made the bed this morning, but Ice Man decided he needed to sleep under the covers. I think he wants the weather to warm up too!

The featured speakers at yesterday's Hancock County Chamber meeting were Julia Compton, MD, Oncologist, and Joshua East, MD, Neurologist. The focus of their talk was about the latest in diagnosis and treatment for cancer and Alzheimer's disease. In particular, they explained how the PET/CT tests were improving diagnosis. Currently, the hospital has a loaned PET/CT which is there once a week which is causing delays in diagnosis, particularly dangerous for possible cancer. They explained the need to have a dedicated PET/CT at the hospital. The Hancock Health Foundation's goal is to raise $3 million towards the purchase. Steve Long, the Hospital's CEO and President, answered questions from the audience.

Happy Earth Day! As a Senior Home Coach™, I recommend older adults and their families make a "Plan B" in case of an urgent problem forcing a change. However, we do not have a Plan B for Earth. According to EarthDay.org 20 million Americans walked the streets demanding change in 1970 which started a transformation. This year’s theme, Our Power, Our Planet, helps us remember the principle that sparked the movement: the power to protect our future rests with all of us because we have "No Planet B!"
