I am looking forward to adding the Security Operations Center Specialist certificate through Ivy Tech Community College for my students. The students that complete two years in the Computer Operations program will have the opportunity to earn 29 college credits from Ivy Tech, the Security Operations Center Specialist certificate, CompTIA Tech+ certification, and the CompTIA Security+ certification.

Students that are interested in this opportunity can submit an application to their high school counselor.

The Computer Operations class is still taking applications for next school year. We are also implementing the Cybersecurity Incident Analysis certificate through Ivy Tech Community College.

One of my morning students got me this mousepad for Teacher Appreciation Week last week. I am thankful for my students and their thoughtfulness.

Thank you to Corey from www.coreycartheyphotography.com for coming to my class to talk to my students about being a professional drone pilot and doing a demonstration with the drone. The two pictures with the white dot are pictures of the drone being 200 feet and 400 feet up in the sky.

We went to MicroCenter today, the students were broken up into groups and given a budget to research and build a computer. They had to include sales tax and stay within the budget they were given. The associates at MicroCenter graded their builds at the end. The team of Aaron, Luke, Chase, and Braxton were picked as having the best build. The team of Ayden, Braden, Zech, and Elijah were picked having the second best build.

Exciting News! Starting this August for the 2026-27 school year the New Castle Career Center Computer Operations program will be offering students the opportunity to earn the Cybersecurity Incident Analyst Certificate from Ivy Tech Community College. If any sophomore or junior student are interested in learning about Cybersecurity and receiving a certificate contact your school counselor to submit your application to attend the career center.
