TJ Collins Landscaping LLC
In 1993, I started TJ Collins landscaping. It began with a lawnmower and a dream: to give people the job and service that they paid for. Simple.
Today, we provide that cost effective, reliable landscape service that people have come to expect.

You know what time it is! It's time for π
Today's flower is a pollinator attractor! Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is a native North American plant that is popular with pollinators and practically carefree, making it perfect for borders, ground covers, and open meadows. This hardy perennial grows clusters of small flowers above fern like foliage and comes in colors like yellow, red, pink, and white. Yarrow is drought resistant, resists most pests, and best of all, attracts butterflies and other pollinators! Most kinds will grow between 2 and 4 feet tall, but there are some types of yarrow that are extra aggressive growers, so be careful when choosing your plants. These are in bloom now, so if you see yarrow around, let us know!

This week's featured flower is a flowering shrub called Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia). It is a flowering evergreen shrub of the heath family and is native to Eastern U.S. It grows to about 3β18 feet in height and has oval leaves. The rosy, pink, or white flowers appear in large clusters above the foliage. The shrub is popular in landscape plantings largely due in part to the uniqueness of the flower itself. You've probably seen these around the last few weeks as they bloom in late May to early June.

Take a look at these before and afters of our most recent finished project. This property went from a mud bowl (seriously!) to a beautiful backyard. The homeowners let us know the last time it rained was the first time in YEARS that they were able to walk on their lawn after rain. Talk about a transformation!

We're bringing back π»
This week's flower is a Kolkwitzia amabilis (beautybush). The beauty bush is best grown for its striking bell shaped flowers that bloom in spring pale to deep pink. The shrub grows in a vase shape with arching branches. The leaves are dark green and oval in shape. It will spread by suckers, but not uncontrollably - it can get 10-15 ft wide and 6-10 ft tall, but can be maintained with regular pruning. They do best in full sun, but will tolerate partial shade. You can see beauty bushes in bloom right now throughout the area!
