Parents and grandparents have spent countless hours serving as trusted advisors through high school and higher education while spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on schools, tutors, coaches, test preparation, summer programs and college. It has never been more competitive for transitioning college students to land their first job. Here is a sample of what today’s students face as they graduate from college:
• 1,855,000 – students at the Bachelor degree level graduating in 2016
• 23.4 – average number of graduates applying per position for entry level jobs
• 49% – percentage of students who said their college or university was ineffective in helping them find employment opportunities after graduating
• 40% – percentage of graduates from the class of 2014 that did not find a job within six months of graduation
• 49% – percentage of recent college graduates who consider themselves underemployed and in jobs not requiring their college degrees
• 41% – percentage of recent graduates earning $25,000 or less
• 2,672 to 1 – the average ratio of students to career center personnel at a four-year institution
• 65% – percentage of recent graduates who have moved back home or who plan do so within six months of graduation
The Graduate to Employment program will position students for success in their job search process by differentiating them from classmates and ensuring they are well prepared and confident
