It is with extreme regret, I must announce I am leaving the race for Florida House District 3. Recently, my wife, Teresa, was diagnosed with breast cancer and will soon start undergoing treatments. Under these circumstances, I would be unable to devote the necessary attention to the people of district 3 if I were elected. I choose to make Teresa my number one priority by stepping out of politics, as she and I face this challenge together.

I have been deeply moved by all of the support and encouragement I have received during my participation in this race. I have been privileged with the opportunity to meet many, many wonderful people, and I cherish this experience.

Teresa and I ask for your prayers, and are confident that God will guide us through this challenge, as He has been faithful to do so many other times in our lives.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO RUN FOR THIS OFFICE?
I get asked that question frequently. And it’s a very legitimate question because a person’s motivation for running for office will play a big part in how they perform.
To be honest, this was not on my radar 6 months ago when a politically active friend of mine asked me to lunch. I had an idea of what he wanted to discuss and didn’t think I’d be interested, however out of courtesy, I agreed to hear him out.
As I, my friend and two of his associates sat and talked about the opportunity of being a state representative, it seemed plainly obvious to me, this was something I needed to do. Here’s why:
While living in this community for the past 36 years, I have received so much! This community has enabled me to build a successful business, raise my 6 children, plant and pastor a church and found a non profit organization. I am now in a position to give back to this great community all for all they have poured into me and my family. My kids are now grown and my business requires very little of my time. It seems only the right thing to do to make myself available to serve this community for all they have done for me.
