MyBodyWorks! Want a healthy pain free life? Want to move better? to play? to feel good in your body? I became a massage therapist in 2008. Get out of Pain first!

Years ago, I started learning about ways to get me out of pain so I could become more active and do the things I love to do! My style of massage blends a flowing, relaxation swedish technique, with deep tissue work as needed. Each massage session is uniquely suited to each individual. I use Neurokinetic Therapy(NKT) and Core Movement Integration (CMI) to assess your movement and function as needed

For a long time, I thought exercise just wasn’t for me.

This coming from a former athlete!

But every time I tried a class, or a gym routine, something would flare up.
Pain, tension, something would feel off.

Eventually, I just stopped trying.

It felt easier to assume my body just couldn’t handle it.
But looking back now, I can see what was actually missing.

It wasn’t effort.
It wasn’t strength.

It was the foundation.

No one had ever shown me how to move in a way that felt supportive in my body.

How to move with connection, instead of strain.
How to build the foundation, before adding more on top.

So I kept trying to layer “exercise” onto a body that didn’t feel supported to begin with.

And of course that didn’t work.

What changed things for me was slowing down and learning how to move differently.

Not working harder.
Not more.
Just… consistently, better.

More aware.
More connected.
More supported from the center.

Building the foundation.
That’s where the real shift started to happen.

And over time, that’s what made it possible for me to actually work on strength without constantly ending up back in pain.

This is the piece that often gets skipped.

We’re told to strengthen, to push, to improve.

But not how to create the kind of movement that makes all of that sustainable.

That’s what this workshop is about.

Learning the foundations of mindful, connected movement so your body can actually support you.

If you’ve ever felt like exercise just doesn’t work for you, or that you keep ending up back at square one, this might be the missing piece.

"Funny because it’s true. This is actually one of the under-appreciated reasons that activity and exercise are protective.

Can’t tell you how many times I have discovered a “niggle” that I didn’t know about, a vulnerability that I hadn’t noticed until I did a 5-minute body scan in the form of a batch of dead easy range of motion exercises, “mobilizations” in my parlance.

We should all be doing “warm-ups” regularly … even if they aren’t followed by a full workout!"

My Tapping experiment...

A few months ago, I stopped wearing my Oura ring.

If you’re not familiar, it’s a ring that tracks sleep, heart rate, steps, and other health data.
I originally got it to understand my sleep better and the info is interesting.

For the last six months, I’ve had nights here and there where I just couldn’t sleep.
Lying there staring at the ceiling.
Sometimes it was pain.
Sometimes a racing heart.
I didn’t fight it, but I was curious.

And another thing.
After a full night’s sleep, wouldn’t you expect to feel rested?

Except that most mornings, I get up to feed the cats and then find myself lying back down on the couch while the coffee brews.
and fall asleep again… often for another hour.

And while that extra nap feels nice, I’d rather be starting my morning self-care routine.

So I decided to change something.
Because I believe sleep is one of the most crucial parts of health.

Two weeks ago, I added something new to my evenings: EFT, also known as Tapping.
It’s a simple method that helps you work with the subconscious.

Each night as I settle in to bed, I tap and repeat these three reminders:
1. I sleep deeply
2. I heal deeply — my body knows how to heal what needs healing
3. I wake feeling refreshed and ready for the day

So how’s it going?

No middle-of-the-night wakefulness.
Less pain this morning.
No racing heart.
And in the last 7 days, I skipped that morning nap four times.

Progress.

Next step: dig out my Oura ring, charge it, and see what it says.

I’d love to know — what do you do to get better sleep?
Reply and tell me. I’m always learning too.

With care,
Ellie
Helping well-seasoned humans build self-care that actually makes a difference

PS I’m not certified in EFT or anything like that, just sharing what’s working for me.
If you want to try it, look up The Tapping Solution by Nick Ortner or do a quick YouTube search.
It’s simple and easy to add to your self-care practice.
