Summer@Riverbend had a great start this week!

Toddlers and preschool-age children made new friends and enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities including water play, arts and crafts, and outdoor exploration.

Riverbend is such a great place for summer fun. Our campus has lots of space for outdoor play, and our air-conditioned classrooms are ready for students when they need a break from the sun. Counselors loved getting to know the children during week one of our summer program!

That's a wrap on this year's adventures at the Magullion Center!

Middle Schoolers led activities for younger students on our satellite nature property throughout the year. They also worked on independent projects to help optimize the space, including setting up a log library and building a raven sculpture.

In their final visit of the year, Upper Elementary students created a gratitude pole. Each student painted a wood block with their hand print and several words about things they're grateful for. These beautiful additions to the Magullion Center will enhance our students' experience of nature education for years to come!

Last week we celebrated Riverbend's 8th graduation and school-wide moving up ceremony.

Families and friends gathered on the quad for the festivities. After the graduation, younger students moving up from one program to the next crossed over a bridge to signify their advancement to the next level. The day ended with a festive all-school lunch, followed by the official start of summer vacation.

We wish all Riverbend students and families a happy, rejuvenating break!

Riverbend students and staff had a great time at the Boston Pride Parade today!

At Riverbend, we proudly celebrate love, diversity, and inclusivity every day. Our community is a place where each person feels valued and appreciated for who they are. It was a joy to celebrate with the greater Boston LGBTQ+ community and allies on this beautiful day!

Primary Field Day was so much fun!

Smiling faces could be seen all around the field as students competed in a variety of challenges and obstacles. After the individual events, students enjoyed a full-group parachute activity and an epic game of red light green light!

As we approach the last day of school, traditions like Field Day are a great way for students to celebrate special time together as they prepare for the transition to summer break. We're grateful for these community-building experiences together!

Last week, Riverbend hosted our annual Spring Concert and Art/Design Fair.

At the Spring Concert. students from Kindergarten through 8th Grade performed pieces they've been working on in music class. Students sang and performed on a variety of instruments, supporting and encouraging one another throughout the concert.

At the Art and Design Fair, guests enjoyed student artwork and projects from throughout the year from art and Design Lab classes. They also had the chance to experiment with homemade robots created during DLab classes.

It was a wonderful celebration of art and creativity at Riverbend!

Upper Elementary students hosted a year-end Celebration of Learning event this week.

Each student chose meaningful work from across the curriculum to share with families and classmates. The wide range of topics included biography scrapbooks, feature articles, history work, math and geometry projects, and Montessori Model United Nations work.

This inspiring event showcased how Montessori education celebrates each student's unique interests and passions in the classroom. We're so proud of these students, and we look forward to seeing how their intellectual curiosity continues to develop as they move toward our Middle School program.

Riverbend GIVES, our annual schoolwide community service event, recently received the PIN Community Service Award for the second year in a row! PIN (Parents’ Independent School Network) is a network of parents at some of the top independent schools in the Boston area. This award includes a grant that helps fund Riverbend GIVES.

At the May virtual meeting of PIN, our Community Service Liaison Stefanie Gambino-Carter gave a wonderful presentation about Riverbend GIVES. Our middle schoolers play a central role in leading the entire Riverbend community in this important day of service each year.

We appreciate the special recognition of how this annual event inspires our students to engage in hands-on service to others in our community.
