We had a great turnout for our A Cup of Community Volunteer Kickoff at Acopio Coffee! It was so nice to see our parents come together, connect, and share in the excitement for the year ahead. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made our first gathering so special!

In our classrooms, students are building their math skills through a combination of practice and hands-on learning. Manipulatives give students a way to see and work with the concepts they are learning, and multisensory lessons create opportunities to experience math beyond paper and pencil.

For students who learn differently, having different ways to approach math can help concepts click and build confidence along the way.

We’re grateful for our specialized teachers who understand how our students learn best and use that expertise to shape instruction in ways that help them grow and succeed.

Across our Jewelry Fabrication classes at our North Campus, high school students are designing original pieces and learning the techniques behind working with metal, stones, and other jewelry-making materials. Students are learning to use a variety of specialized tools and fabrication techniques as they bring their individual designs to life.

Led by Mrs. Wandrey, Jewelry Fabrication is part of EPA’s Art Career Education Studies (ACES) Program. These electives give students the opportunity to develop their creative strengths and gain practical experience that can connect to future interests and career possibilities.

Creativity comes to life in so many different ways at EPA!

Our students are full of ideas, and art gives them the opportunity to explore where those ideas can take them. They’re sculpting with clay, crocheting, painting and sketching, creating digital designs, building with different materials, and even designing a miniature dress for a doll-sized mannequin.

For many students with dyslexia, creativity and imaginative thinking can be important areas of strength. Research shared by Made By Dyslexia identifies imagining as one of the recognized strengths associated with Dyslexic Thinking, with 84% of dyslexic people surveyed reporting above-average ability in this area.

At EPA, our strengths-based approach means giving students opportunities to develop these abilities alongside the academic support they need. That is one reason art is intentionally part of every student’s day, providing time to explore form, space, texture, and color.

Every new idea and creation is another opportunity for our students to discover just how capable they are!

The Armory Youth Group kicks off tomorrow!

Back for its third year at EPA, The Armory gives students a place to grow in their faith and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. Led by North Campus teacher Mr. Harple, students will explore what it means to put on the Full Armor of God through practical, Bible-based lessons that connect their faith to everyday life.

The Armory will meet every other Wednesday throughout the school year. We’re excited to see our students back together tomorrow as another year of The Armory begins!

In Mrs. Lecy’s Science class at our North Campus, students worked together to build models of different molecule structures using toothpicks and gumdrops. This hands-on activity gave students a visual and tangible way to reinforce what they’ve been learning and turned an abstract concept into something they could create and explore.

At EPA, hands-on, multisensory learning is an important part of how we teach. Our teachers understand how students with learning differences learn best and intentionally create lessons that help students connect with what they are learning. By working together, students also have the chance to share ideas and problem-solve alongside their classmates.

It’s learning designed with our students in mind and a classroom where they can be active participants in their own success.
