Rare Mangrove Encounter!
During a recent Rising Tide Explorers kayak tour through the mangrove tunnels, our guide Winston spotted and photographed one of Southwest Florida's most beautiful reptiles, a red-phase Mangrove Saltmarsh Snake!
These non-venomous snakes are specially adapted to life in mangrove forests, tidal creeks, and estuaries, where they hunt small fish among the roots. While Mangrove Saltmarsh Snakes come in several colors, the vibrant red phase is a particularly striking sight and one many paddlers never get the chance to see.
The snake was handled briefly by Winston, our trained guide, for educational purposes before being safely released exactly where it was found.
Every tour offers a chance to discover something amazing. You never know what wildlife will be waiting around the next bend!๐ค

Several Rising Tide Explorers staff members and RTE alumni recently attended the annual Corkscrew Watershed Science Forum earlier this month, a regional gathering of environmental professionals dedicated to protecting Southwest Floridaโs natural resources. ๐๐ฟ
Hosted at the UF/IFAS Extension in Collier County, the forum brought together scientists, researchers, conservation leaders, and land managers to share the latest research and discuss critical issues impacting our ecosystems. Topics included water restoration in the Corkscrew Watershed, prescribed fire management, ghost orchid conservation, frog population declines, invasive species, Florida panthers, and the future of wetlands in our rapidly developing region.
At Rising Tide Explorers, continuing education matters. Our team is passionate about staying informed on the latest environmental science so we can provide our boat and kayak tour guests with accurate, meaningful, and up-to-date information about the incredible ecosystems we explore together every day.
Weโre proud to have a team that never stops learning and advocating for Southwest Floridaโs wild places.
What a season! We wrapped up at Liberty Home Gardens celebrating the incredible Rising Tide Explorers crewโour powerhouse team of science pros who make every eco tour an adventure with purpose. Grateful to our partners at Friends of Rookery Bay for joining us. Proud to be the exclusive eco tour provider for Rookery Bay Reserve, where every tour gives back to support their mission. We thank you all for your passion and dedication to educating so many guests about this important place

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to explore, paddle, and experience the beauty of nature because of their courage and sacrifice. From peaceful mangrove tunnels to unforgettable moments on the water, these freedoms are never taken for granted.
Today, we remember those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. โค๏ธ
