I received a phone call from a nice gentleman who wanted a shell wall. I accepted a great opportunity for a creative challenge.
At first, I thought of all the gawdy shell art I've seen and how could I possibly create anything better with zero experience. This will be a permanent installation.
I researched shell wall art, trying to find inspiration. I couldn't find anything in this field.
Lucky to live in Florida and have local resources. When speaking with local shell shops and telling them what I was commissioned to do, they had not seen this attempted and wished me luck.
I purchased in shells from 3 local stores and started my layout design. I went to a tile flooring supplier and they gave me what they thought would work best to adhere the shells permanently. I used a gray tinted grout and a coat of sealer.
The process was flawless. What a joy working with this client. Very open with my ideas and his collaboration was important to me.
I've put my best in many finishes, but this one takes the cake.

Outlets and some trim pieces to match the range hood.

My Tommy Bahama mural is 10 years old. I gave her a hand cleaning and added a few more fronds. Bright as new and ready for another 10 years of enjoyment.

Finished up a 2 week wood grain project. Some of the wood I matched came from a 150 yr old barn in Tennessee. I love my job!

Refinished these mahogany doors in Mediterra last week.

It was a pleasure working with Ms. Natale again. Blue metallic with glass beads.
