BOOK CIRCLE BOOK CLUB FEATURE | JUNE 12
Some books tell a story. Others reflect the inner work of healing, accountability, and emotional transformation.
Today, Book Circle Book Club is honored to feature author Laura Workman and her deeply insightful release, Avoidant or Anxiously Attached? The No-BS Guide to Heal Your Attachment Style, Release Fear, and Build the Secure Love You Crave, a powerful guide for those seeking to understand their attachment patterns and break free from toxic relationship cycles.
With honesty, lived experience, and emotional clarity woven throughout every page, Laura Workman offers readers more than information. She offers awareness, reflection, and a path toward building secure, healthy love from within.
BOOK SYNOPSIS
Avoidant or Anxiously Attached? is a practical and reflective guide for individuals navigating anxious attachment, avoidant tendencies, emotional unavailability, and relationship patterns that repeat over time.
Through personal insight and lived experience, Laura Workman explores how attachment wounds shape relationships, self-worth, parenting, and emotional responses. The book helps readers identify their patterns, understand their triggers, and begin the process of emotional healing.
At the center of the book is a grounding realization:
Healing begins with awareness, and change begins with you.
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
What inspired you to write Avoidant or Anxiously Attached?
“I wrote this book because I was tired of breaking my own heart by choosing emotionally unavailable men. For years, my attachment issues and anxiety shaped not only my relationships, but every part of my life even how I showed up for my children.”
Was there a specific moment in your life that pushed you toward healing your attachment style?
“My last breakup became the catalyst that pushed me to dig deep, understand my attachment style, and start the real work of healing. This book is my way of sharing that journey, the lessons I’ve learned, and the tools that helped me.”
What message do you most want readers to take away from your book?
“My attachment issues once shaped my relationships, my life, and even my parenting. This book shares the tools and insights I used to heal—so others can break free from toxic patterns and finally feel safe in love.”
Who do you feel this book will help the most?
“It is for people who keep finding themselves drawn to emotionally unavailable partners and wondering why the same patterns keep repeating in different forms.”
What was the most challenging part of your personal healing journey?
“Looking in the mirror and realizing that I was the cause of most of my problems due to unhealed trauma.”
What does “secure love” mean to you personally?
“Secure love means feeling safe and loved unconditionally. It means being treated with respect and care.”
What advice would you give to someone struggling with anxious or avoidant attachment?
“You can break the cycle and unhealthy patterns. It takes awareness, humility, and a willingness to do the hard work of changing your beliefs about yourself. My life changed when I decided to be my own best friend and give myself the love I had been giving away to everyone else.”
What do you hope readers feel after finishing your book?
“I hope they feel heard and empowered. I hope they feel motivated to dig deeper inside themselves and heal what has hindered them for their whole life.”
What is next for you as an author?
“I’m busy promoting the books that I already have published, including my children’s book series. I am planning on publishing another healing book, but I haven’t honed in on exactly what the book will be about yet.”

BOOK CIRCLE BOOK CLUB FEATURE | JUNE 12
Some books tell a story. Others hold up a mirror to the parts of ourselves we have quietly struggled to heal.
Today, Book Circle Book Club is honored to feature author Patricia Horton and her deeply moving new release, The Outside Observer a powerful work that speaks directly to those who have loved someone battling addiction while silently carrying the emotional weight themselves.
With honesty, spiritual depth, and lived experience woven throughout every page, Patricia Horton offers readers more than insight. She offers understanding, reflection, and the reminder that healing belongs to the observer too.
BOOK SYNOPSIS
The Outside Observer is a reflective and spiritually guided journey for those affected by a loved one’s addiction. Through personal experience and emotional truth, Patricia Horton explores the blurred lines between the addict and the one standing beside them, helping readers rediscover their voice, reclaim their peace, and understand their place within the storm of active addiction.
At the center of the book is a powerful realization:
Healing begins and ends with you.
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
What inspired you to write The Outside Observer?
“Bearing witness to active addiction within my family for three decades. I recognized the importance of sharing my story with others because I knew this problem was bigger than what was happening within my own four walls. Addiction is this nation's plague and can no longer be ignored.
Throughout the writing of this book, I realized that it became healing for me on a soul level. I knew that if I could begin to heal, then so could others. Through this experience, this book allowed me to help other people navigate their own stories while restoring their inner peace along the way.”
What can readers expect from the book?
“Helping them to understand the Dragon's influence on the addict. It is an interactive book that will allow the reader to unfold their personal story of active addiction and regain control of their own lives once more.
Bearing witness to your loved one's addiction is painful; this book will give the reader tools to use as they navigate what it means to be an Outside Observer.”
Are there any themes or messages you hope readers take away from the story?
“Recognizing that you can't fight your addict's battle for them or do the work required by them. This is a hard truth, yet this truth is also freeing.
Knowledge is power, as they say, and the journey for the reader is to find and restore their own inner peace in the process.”
What was the most rewarding part of writing this book?
“Allowing myself the opportunity to be heard, as so many Outside Observers feel their voices fall on the deaf ears of the addict.
This book became multifaceted and can also assist the addict if they are open to reading it and doing the work.”
Do you have a favorite character or moment in the book?
“The Outside Observer for sure. There are so many personal moments shared throughout the pages of this book that I just can't claim one as being more profound than the others.”
What challenges did you face while writing or publishing the book?
“No real challenges per se. Allowing myself to walk down memory lane and being a witness in my own story allowed me to understand that I mattered too, and so did the rest of my life that was being neglected due to my loved one's addiction.”
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
“Don't force anything; allow your spirit to be your guide as you write. Draw from personal experience so that the reader can feel the threads of your own tapestry as they are written on the pages of your book. Your writing will then become an extension of your own heart and life lived.”
