On July 4, 2026, America will celebrate 250 years of independence.

The City of Naples will commemorate this historic milestone with the America 250 Celebration, including a Fourth of July Parade and a fireworks display over the Naples coastline.

As we approach this once-in-a-generation celebration, Naples Fire-Rescue encourages all residents to plan ahead for a safe and responsible holiday. Early preparation helps prevent injuries, fires, and emergencies.

This dazzling and patriotic display of fireworks will begin at approximately 9:00 PM and can be viewed from all City of Naples beaches.

Due to construction at the pier, this yearโ€™s fireworks will be shot off from a barge at a different location along the City of Naples coastline. The location of the fireworks is TBD, but will be visible from all City of Naples beaches. More information will be provided.

Naples Fire-Rescue remains committed to prevention, education, and emergency response.

Let's celebrate 250 years of American independence safely and responsibly.

To date, our reports are showing a higher number of nests compared to false crawls, and your cooperation is a big reason why. On one of the Cityโ€™s beaches, what started as 25 lighting compliance cases has dwindled to just three - a testament to the effort and care shown by our community.

A darker shoreline, combined with the Cityโ€™s ongoing dune restoration (more on this below) and the natural regrowth of vegetation, is creating a safer environment for nesting sea turtles.

๐™๐™ช๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™ก๐™š ๐™๐™–๐™ก๐™ก๐™ฎ

โ€ข 194 Nests (โ†“ 20 compared to this time last year)
โ€ข 146 False Crawls (โ†“ 93 compared to this time last year)

The decline in false crawls positively suggests successful nesting behavior overall: female sea turtles are reaching the beach, finding safe spots to lay their eggs, and returning to the Gulf undisturbed - exactly as nature intended.

๐™†๐™š๐™š๐™ฅ ๐™๐™ฅ ๐™๐™๐™š ๐™‚๐™ค๐™ค๐™™ ๐™’๐™ค๐™ง๐™

Peak nesting season is upon us, and that means hatchlings are coming! This year's dry conditions may push some to emerge ahead of schedule, and when they do, their sprint to the Gulf leaves no room for error. Artificial lights can disorient them, often with fatal consequences; therefore, it's important we continue doing our part:

โ€ข Close window coverings after sunset

โ€ข Turn off unnecessary beachfront lighting at night

โ€ข Use turtle-safe bulbs and shielded fixtures

โ€ข Before leaving the beach: fill in holes, flatten sandcastles, and remove all items

โ€ข Observe quietly, and respectfully, from afar

โ€ข Avoid using flashlights and flash photography on the beach at night

โ€ข Report distressed wildlife to the FWC at 888-404-3922 or online (Wildlife Alert)

โ€ข Use marked paths; walking on dunes destroys vegetation, accelerating erosion

๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฎ ๐™„๐™ฃ ๐™๐™๐™š ๐™‡๐™ค๐™ค๐™ฅ

A heartfelt thank you to Collier County staff and City residents who've rolled up their sleeves to replant dune vegetation along our beaches.

The plants are still young and fragile, so please walk only on marked paths and enjoy the beach away from the dunes - keep chairs, umbrellas, and gear on the open sand, not on the vegetation.

Together, we can help these plants take root, strengthen our dunes, and protect our beaches.

On Friday, June 5, the City of Naples Fire-Rescue Department welcomed students and staff from St Ann Catholic School for a visit to Station One.

Students had the opportunity to meet firefighters, explore fire apparatus, learn about fire safety, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the important work our crews do every day.

Thank you to the students and staff for visiting Station One. We enjoyed sharing fire safety information and giving a closer look at our daily operations.

Preparedness starts long before a storm appears on the horizon. ๐ŸŒช๏ธ

As part of our ongoing readiness efforts, key leadership and personnel gathered at the Fire Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for a hurricane preparedness exercise. The drill brought together department directors, emergency management staff, including Fire Chief Phillip Pennington, Police Chief Ciro Dominguez, City Manager Gary Young, and other essential personnel to strengthen coordination, communication, and leadership collaboration ahead of hurricane season.

Effective emergency response begins well before a storm makes landfall. Through training, planning, and teamwork, we continue to ensure our community is prepared for whatever hurricane season may bring.
