Frances Agosto

I spent years deciding whether or not to become a mother on my own. I worried a lot about my baby growing up without a dad, telling my family and friends how I got knocked down by a s***m donor and then church and ministry-I will never lose the favor of God but people!? Would they use me in ministry!? I even worried about what my child may think of me. If you know me, I’m not one to care about what people think of me but I guess this is too much worrying for…but then how would I feel if I was never a Mother? If I didn't do this would it be my biggest regret? Would I become a miserable person? All I know is that I was born to worship God and to be a mom! And so I tried this IUI (Intrauterine Insemination-3times). it’s taking a long time to get pregnant (almost 2 years) and I sincerely wished I hadn't spent so long worrying about other people. I get so mad at myself for doubting my path and for waiting this long (my clock almost missed it) I am terrified that I had blown my chance at being a Mother by spending too long thinking about whether or not to do it.

WHY SHOULD YOU COME FERTILITY WITH ME?
IVF is expensive, and I don't think the people going through it ask for help enough. Maybe because they don't feel is okay to ask for help. Maybe because infertility is hard to talk about, and money is even harder. Maybe because of pride or shame. Even though it's uncomfortable to be vulnerable, it's important. It's a gateway to understanding. It cultivates compassion. It opens hearts and is a forerunner to love.

Despite it feeling uncomfortable for me to extend my hand out for help, I will embrace it. I will keep doing what I've been doing these past few months - put my story out there. Show that it's okay to ask for help. I will be vulnerable and voice my need to you, my community. Meg Cabot once said, "Sometimes in life, you can fall down holes you can't climb out of by yourself. That's what friends and family are for - to help. They can't help, however, unless you let them know you're down there."

By supporting me, you're saying, "I see you down in that hole, and I choose to help." You're saying yes to a more vulnerable, more compassionate world. You're saying yes to a world where asking for help is met with warmth and generosity. You're saying yes to a world where people don't feel like they have to go at it alone.
