🏡 Could Florida Eliminate Property Taxes?

Governor DeSantis has unveiled a proposal that would increase Florida's homestead exemption from $50,000 to $250,000, with a long-term goal of reaching $500,000+.

📊 Highlights:

✅ Up to 60% of Florida homeowners could pay no property taxes under the initial proposal.
✅ At a $500,000 exemption, approximately 92% of homeowners could become property-tax free.
✅ Existing Save Our Homes protections would remain in place.
✅ Additional relief proposed for Florida's small businesses.

To offset lost revenue, the plan would continue taxing commercial properties, rentals, second homes, and investment properties, while also utilizing state revenues and Florida's continued economic growth.

As Florida Realtors, we're watching this one closely. If property taxes on homesteaded homes are dramatically reduced, it could reshape affordability, migration, and housing demand across the state. The next few years could get very interesting. 🏡👀
